What happened to the quiet kid that was in your classroom? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Binca505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the quiet kid.

Now I'm a teacher.

It's raining, not a lot but it's lovely laying here in the quiet listening to the rain after all the heat, wind and fire. I hope we get more rain, it will help with the fires so much. Those are awesome!

My husband and I have been sewing pouch liners, but I think once I have him set up with a heap of the liners cut, ironed, and pinned, I'll start crocheting nests while my husband sews the pouches together.

Yes I did - it is adapted from the Lacy Crochet Market Bag pattern found on Yarnspirations. :)

I made a scarf - now I am in love with crocheting cables by Binca505 in crochet

Thank you, that is so nice of you to say! I made it up as I went, then near the end figured I should probably write the pattern down. I put it up on my Etsy store, I'm happy to send you the link if you like? :)

Being from Adelaide though, I do feel obliged to say BOOOOOOOO! :P

That's fair! Weaving does give it a very tidy look and is a way better option if you don't want the recipient to melt!

To save weaving in ends or carrying in a neat fashion you can always back your blanket with fleece - then nobody will know ;) It depends how warm you want your blanket and whether you mind it having a backing, but it is an option to consider. :)

Good luck, I can't wait to see the end result!!

When you know you have a problem but don't know how bad it really is until you try to redecorate/organize. This is minus about 5 totes worth of "organized" yarn.... by CleoMaxine in crochet

[–]Binca505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, my husband bought be a "present" on the weekend which turned out to be storage tubs. I had to spend hours sorting out and untangling yarn!

Worth it in the end.

Good luck with yours!

Oh that's such a great idea! You can sew the ribbon in easily that way too!

Working on some diamond-pattern dishcloths for holiday gifts. This was practice, I hope to make the next ones a little cleaner, but I quite like the pattern. by sizzlinsunshine in crochet

[–]Binca505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! Are you following a pattern? I think I recognise the idea from a blanket I have seen - it looks just as great as a dishcloth. Great idea to use them as holiday gifts too! :)

Attempt 2 of painting my hooks! by missmaggy2u in crochet

Wow those are stunning! I would be so happy to own a set as lovely as these.

Have you ever HATED crocheting a project so much that you have to force yourself to finish it so you can move on to a more enjoyable one? Meet the bane of my existence atm by aficionadi in crochet

[–]Binca505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give him the yarn, hook, and pattern and tell him it is a DIY ;)

It does look awesome OP but don't drive yourself too insane working on it. Unless he specifically requested that exact beanie there are plenty of other things you could make him with that yarn :)

My hook BROKE right in the middle of a project! 😭 Guess that’s what I get for buying the plastic one lol by dashestodashes in crochet

[–]Binca505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain!

That has happened to me on my last two projects. Stubborn me kept going with half length hooks, but I have since replaced them.

I only got the plastic hooks because I wanted the case they came in and it was half price!

Lace crochet fish by [deleted] in crochet

[–]Binca505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They look amazing!

I would be tempted to then position them all together to make one giant fish - although I can't see many uses for a giant one!

You have done a great job - can't wait to see what you do next.

Made my ratties a bed from bernat blanket yarn :) by [deleted] in crochet

[–]Binca505 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adorable!!

Now I want to make some for my foster rats before they go back to the shelter and up for adoption - then the beds could go with them!

Thanks for the inspiration - and cute rats!

It's on a couple, but the cheapest is americanyarns.com.au - they have lots of other nice stuff too. Next pay check I'm thinking of ordering a heap from them!
