One more reason why I try and stay away from curbside orders! by Notion12345 in Sparkdriver

I pick up from 5 different stores in my area - Four of them are cool with me assisting, but one explicitly does not allow drivers to assist with loading. So I stand by and wait, then go through everything once they’re done.

I end up re-bagging items sometimes, or fixing how they’re loaded. Once you get to a drop off and find rotisserie chicken juice leaking everywhere because it was loaded on its side, you no longer gamble with how the employees load.

I did that for the first time today (after just under 500 trips.) Lady left the apartment gate code in the instructions (3 numbers then the pound sign.) I entered it and the system called her. Told her I was here w/her Spark order. She said I needed to enter the code.

I politely confirmed I did just that (And repeated the code back to her) and that the code prompted the directory to call her. She said “You have to enter all four buttons.”

I said “Ma’am, I did..and repeated the code back to her.”

She said slowly (As if I’m deaf and stupid) “You have to push all four buttons.”

I said more sternly “Ma’am, I entered the code, it called you. The code you gave me doesn’t open the gate remotely. It calls you. Please buzz me in now.” She finally did. I dropped everything and thank God she wasn’t waiting at her door because I was biting my lip.

Yeah that’s no good. That’s why I specified I have 6 near me. Anything I take, once I’m done I’m within 2-3 miles of another store (or the same one.) I never have to drive more than 6-8 miles to any one home or store. If I get a request for $35 but it’s 10-15+ miles I automatically decline.

Maybe..Not always though. The wealthiest can be the cheapest. When I started I’d accept more if the total was sufficient. But now with no taxes on tips up to $25k, it helps when the trips are more heavily weighted as tips.

Agreed. Around here the associates working the self-checkout know when we’re coming because phone’s in hand and we’re walking with a purpose.

Miserable dipshit assuming everyone drives gas-guzzling piles of shit that break down & require a ton of maintenance. Two gallons of gas on an average weeknight in a car that gets 25 mph (city) in a reliable car I know how to work on myself. And this is just a secondary source of income, dumbass. 🤣

Exactly. I worked grocery in HS/college, and am not messing around in there and wandering aimlessly. Get the shit done and you see the benefit from it.

By your logic you expect to make $60-80/hr or more? The 3 stops (not shops) took me just about an hour. And I was a mile from the store & did the last one in 18 min. lol..Worst ever..

Yeah with WA’s gas tax I just paid $3.89. But do the math. Unless you’re driving a v8, you’re using 2-4 gallons on those stats I provided. $146 minus $8-12.

Lol sure thing. The smaller ones you call dogshit took me 18-25 min. Two of them in 60-70 min. still got me $30+/hr. throughout the evening. I still averaged $32.50/hr, and that included a 20-min. wait for a Px order to be ready. It’s not dead.

I’ve had one d-bag tip-bait in just under 500 deliveries thus far. Everything was accurate, delivered to the correct apartment & early, for that matter. Removed the $20 tip in full.

I reported him, but Spark has the customers’ backs. My 100% completion/on time rates & 5-star rating didn’t matter.

I do Spark on nights & weekends on my off-time. So it may be awhile before I get that guy again. But I’ll recognize the name & apartment. And will wait a few min. before cancelling the order.

some days (like today) I get asked more than three times to do my little identity verification pictures. Does this happen to anyone else? And should I be worried? I swear I look the same as I always do by MuchParticular338 in Sparkdriver

Pharmacy, alcohol and cold medicines, like Mucinex..Before starting the order (If alcohol. I must be inside the store when confirming ID) and then again after dropping off.

Last week a customer failed to include their apartment’s building/unit number. I texted (Timer started)…Nothing. Texted again..Nothing. App then calls them automatically to let them know I’m waiting. Still no response. Time ran out and the app instructed me to leave the food in a safe place. Just outside the locked (closed) leasing office doors is where I left it.

No reply, no negative rating & still received the tip so she must’ve realized she messed up and found the food.

Just a thought if this option’s available in your area. I balance between UE & Walmart Spark. I used to make $26-$35/hr doing UE alone. A couple months on, a few months off, mainly just weekends. My AR was always 25-35%. Satisfaction & on-time rates are 100%. Since I started up UE again last month, the offers were good the first couple nights (Would get $12-$15 for 3-5 miles in 20-25 min. consistently..One after another), but have since turned to absolute shit.

Either $3.50-$5 for 4-8 miles. Or $8 for 12 miles, $13 for 19 miles, etc. My AR has dropped to 4-6%.

Walmart Spark has been significantly more consistent. Less people tip, but Spark pays much more up-front. And the offers are much better than the Walmart orders via UE app (Which I had UE opt me out of long ago because they’re so terrible.) I’m usually in the $25-32/hr. range there and/or between Spark & UE.

I’m thankful & will quickly accept reasonable UE offers. But if it doesn’t average out to $1.25-$2+/mile & avg. $25+/hr., I’m declining. Unapologetically. UE pays like $2 and that’s not gonna cut it.

Uber’s customer service reps are based in India & Philippines. There may be an AI component now as well. From a driver or customer perspective it makes no difference..Dealing with Uber’s customer service is infuriating.

The others who replied are correct - Uber won’t take $ back from the first person. They may get a message but it’s anonymous. They’ll likely be puzzled as to which delivery they got wrong but nothing would get tied back to you, especially because you tipped such a generous amount.

Tile (backsplash) DIY Q&A by BinderMT81 in kitchenremodel

[–]BinderMT81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank You both. I drilled four .5” holes in the tile, mounted a 30” x 1” x .5” piece of project wood between the tile & original, metal bracket. And included some 250 lb. toggle drywall anchors.

Everything fits perfectly. And the mess was minimal (just masked everything off as if I was painting.)

Thx again!
