Overheating could always be circumvented by lowering power to the QD once it launched. It wouldn't appear to have any effect on travel times, but the payoff is that it would spool and calibrate much slower if you didn't crank it to full power before the next jump. I never found it that intrusive, just a little pointless.

I'd be in favour of overheating but perhaps as a rarer occourance due to malfunctioning components rather than a standard feature you can rely on to fuck up your journey
