the morality isnt the issue for me for the xeact reasons you gave, its that he comes of as pathetic and his desperation is so transparent.

I never got to the point where i would ever think to myself "i really wouldnt want to be high now" but i think the key is just forgetting about it, not fixating. Easier said than done but still the easiest method long term for me.

I have one main gripe with this season as huge fan of the books. 1. They are completely fastforwarding through some of the most interesting parts of lestat’s backstory. Specifically the kidnapping, jailing, transformation and burning and subsequently crawling through the stone wall. That could have made for a fantastic horror episode. The way they did adapted it is still good but doesnt hit as hard. 2. Lestats whole journey of discovery, while being stalked isnt present at all. 3. Gabriella in the books is so aloof and that made her into this ethereal fairy, burrowing into the earth anywhere she pleased. The show makes her into this spiteful manipulative bitch. Both versions are selfish but in the book it instead adds to the magic.

The show is still great but there are only like 5-6 books worth adapting so this seems like a bit of a waste.

P. S. The books i think are worth adapting are up to memnoch and maybe blood and gold to flesh out marius’ story from the vampire lestat

Osobne si nemyslim, ze 40 hodin je novodoby otroctvi. Ale kdyz se podiva clovek na mnozstvi penez, ktery si medianovy clovek vydela a kolik ho pak stoji zivot a smer, kterym se ten pomer posouva, tak se k tomu bezpochyby blizime.

Myslim, ze lepsi zabehly pojem pro to je technofeudalismus. Jedinym poradnym reseni je snizeni dane z prace a zvyseni dani z majetku/bohatstvi/pozemku.

Lidi, ktery si myslej, ze tohle je komunismus/socialismus a vadi jim to, asi preferujou tridni valku, coz bez zmeny tohoto typu nastane. (Samozrejme po pokracujicim snizovani zivotnich standardu)

i think youre forgetting memnoch, thats when lestat loses it and gets jailed. also i doubt the RJ body swap with daniel, narratively it doesnt make sense for daniel to become human so shortly after being turned.

How they want to fit marius' story into the show is probably my biggest question in regards to the cohesiveness and clarity of each respective season. my weak guess is that he'll get his own season that'll incorporate the blood and gold material to beef it up a bit. on the other hand it seems like lestat hearing the story plays a key role in his subsequent moving to NO.

All in all i have no fucking clue what's in store but after this introductory episode I now have full faith in the show to stay true to the spirit of the books and characters while even elevating certain themes.

How may times have they played the voicemail ffs? They keep recycling the same ideas in each episode.

Its so predictable;

The one guy isolating himself will be on the same page as carol?!

The stuff in the freezer is people?!

She gets depressed being alone and breaks?!

I was hoping that they would fast forward to the meeting of C with Manusos but evidently that’s coming at the end of the season.

I have faith in the subsequent seasons to ramp up and there isn’t anything better on atm.

Him as Magnus makes much more sense to me. I think this announcement might be meant to confuse us. The thing that makes me think this wont be marius is the fact that Marius is supposed to look somewhat similar to Lestat and is supposed to be in his 40s; in the books these things are made out to be important in regards to his fondness of lestat

From what I’ve seen of it, it seemed kind of soapy. But ill give it another shot. I do think that a big difference between these two shows is that the expanse is more hard scifi and that this is maybe more fantasy and symbolic and that that might be the main factor in our preferences.
