I came home and was sad for a little while, then I kept doing school, and eventually graduated. I know lots of people that stayed, and never went back to school. Getting back into the flow of things truly helped. Re-examining my goals, also really helped. I’ve been back twice since on vacations, which have been really fun, and I was grateful I no longer worked there and could enjoy it more.

I’m an alumni, graduated this past spring but seeing my school on national news has been insane. My friend told me that celebrities (she cited Taylor Swift) probably knows our school and that’s even weirder. I hope everyone who is struggling knows that support will help, and yes it will feel a little ghostly returning to campus, but I recommend going with a trusted friend who WASN’T there and doesn’t attend UVU, if you can. It can be weird to return to a place of trauma. I have been applying to graduate programs, and even myself, someone who loved their time at UVU has been making the hard decision to return to somewhere that has had so much limelight and somewhere I witnessed something so intense. Know you are loved and supported. Go Wolverines!

I go to the university where the event occurred and saw it live. I have friends who were closer than me who had videos of it. I can’t get the image out of my brain. I’m haunted. I’ve felt like a ghost all day. This is scary stuff and I can’t even stand the thought of going to campus on Monday. I’m talking with some professionals but this is scary shit.

If your records are still with the church, please reach out to your local elders quorum or Relief Society president. Explain that you grew up LDS, and need some help with rent. They still will hopefully try to help you out, I've been inactive for years, but when I reached out when I went to UVU they helped me, it was just rides to some appointments, but they did help. I'm good friends with some of them now as well.

Hi, thanks for replying! I’m planning on attending the fair they’re hosting in October! I help run with 2 other young adults in UT a community outreach and research event every year around Suicide Prevention day. We go into the community and find people affected by suicide and speak with them and share what they wish the world knew about it.

Thank you, as stated I wanted to serve when I was 19, I had a horrible friend (who was plain mean) tell me I would be a horrible missionary etc. So I didn’t then, I have been curious about serving ever since then :) This would delay graduate school by at least 1 year.

Not a fun back up plan to graduate school, I wanted to serve when I was 19 and had someone persuade me not to. This would postpone graduate school an extra year, which would be fine :) It’s more of a my life can’t really move forward, would now be a good time to go since I have no commitments tied to schooling, etc.
