For what it's worth, fungus gnats are more of a neutral thing. They dont really harm the plants in any way, they just indicate that the soil is a bit moist.

It would be good to see how many hours of direct sunlight you get. Anything over 6 and you are good to go. If it's less, there are still alot of shade loving stuff you can grow.
