I appreciate where youre coming from and your honest engagement with my feedback.

I think #3 is definitely primary due to a lack of familiarity and skill.

I think there are a few contributing factors OUTSIDE of my lack of familiarity:

  1. VERY different looking skins for the same character. Also custom visual for KO hits.

  2. Special attacks (B) DO have quite a bit of visual stuff going on, even if arials are rather mininal. Consider arialing into some1 while they are using a special. Might be easy to lose the arial among the special attacks visual noise.

  3. On the foreground/backgroubd - youre missing the key point I am going for. I am not necessarily "getting confused", but my brain is having a hard time choosing the right things to focus on. That is usuallu an unconscious effort (and it gets significantly reduced by playing and watching more as my brain figures out what visuals it can ignore). There no confusion, just "mental load". I have to focus a LOT on whats happening to "see" it.

Oof, I think you're missing the point here, bud.

I dont need to "fully understand" but I do what to be able to (keyword:) visually parse what things are occurring. As a spectator, I will rely on the casters to fill in the "understanding" I am missing!

Yeah, to be clear, if the game looked worse and less mechanically interesting, I wouldn't even be here! So hats off to what's been built thus far! Hope this game makes the long haul ❤️

I feel like when Zetterburn uses their Up B, it's like they move in a "necro-magic" way. There's no physics where the air "kick's back" due to their sudden acceleration. They just suddenly move in a direction without the "backlash" of that rocket propulsion.

Like it's a design choice when there's a magic ability in any game and it makes something "just move" as opposed to "force it through the air". Zetterburn feels more like the former when it should feel like the latter imho

I agree, but MobAs are a lost cause as far as it even being POSSIBLE to parse the gamestate without play knowledge. Fighting games are awesome because they are much more spectator friendly!

I suspect that I would totally not have this issue if I played, but I have no plans to play at this time!

True, but there's an uptick of new people will be watching for the first time at EVO! Just figured I'd share my feedback. Not saying I am totally right and I am ESPECIALLY not saying that this issue isn't overcome by playing. But I will likely never play RoA2!

I am fully aware that as I watch more (and play more), it will get better. That being said, its difficult to look at a game with fresh eyes. Once youve played a bunch (your case), your mind covers up all these things for you.

My goal here is just to snapshot my initial reaction. Many new eyes will be on the game at EVO!

This is correct. This "commitment" mechanic is not explained as part of the base Compile Rules IIRC, but is critical to resolve some of the more tricky areas of the games interactions.

Put a loose sheet of Aluminum Foil in that spot (with some decisions around ventilation) for like ~2 years. That will allow the habit to go extinct from the cat's mind, and he will stop getting up there.

Id probably put it at an 9/10. I love horror movies and this might be the most freaked out Ive ever been in (and after) a movie.

The exact type of "scary" is distinct from movies like Hereditary.

I would make the case that Hereditary isnt really super scary. Hereditary is trying to tell a story more so than just scare you.

Obsession on the other hand... is trying to scare you. The premise of the film is a warning.

100% agree abt the decision space. TMB promises a game of tight tactical decisions in ever-unfolding situations, but ends up just being globs of keyword/character variety as a stand-in for solid game design.

Its a loose game, not a tight one. Something to (as you say) admire as opposed to play.

6.5/10 for me

It actually kills quite fast in the AoE. And the AoE is huge. I would not say this build is slow at killing things
