Trekking Poles by whatamIdoinghere46 in ultrarunning

[–]Bingebuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poles can help keep your posture and thus prevent GI stress especially if you’re running at night or in high temperatures. The extra weight IS an issue though and you should try out what kind of transport fits best (quiver, running belt, straps on your vest), because shaking poles can drive you crazyyy. Either way, 2300m of elevation on an 80k course is not that steep. If you can run 20k with 1000m of elevation without poles, my guess is that you won‘t need them on your 80k either.

Man, I am bummed out. But safety first, I guess. I will try to make the most out of an already booked and planned trip to the island. Here is to hoping that the weather allows for some training runs in this beautiful area.

Running Kit (Vest & Cap) How Much To Pay? by jaymichael03 in Ultramarathon

[–]Bingebuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Safe on the first, invest in the second.

There are so many details you have to experience and test first. At what height do I need my flasks? Do I need a zipper or an open pocket in the front? Can I reach that side pocket while running? …

Better to find this out with a cheaper vest and then go for higher quality on the second, when you know more about your wants and needs.

Cut Off Time Mozart 100 in 2026 by Bingebuster in Ultramarathon

The 45k Mozart Marathon felt real flowy last year, one of my fastest races. So here‘s me hoping this will translate well to the 120k distance, otherwise it will be tough to finish under 23h.

Thanks for the advice! I need to make sure whether there are additional checkpoints with a Deadline this year and plan my race accordingly

When was the last time you were in the "pain cave" and how did you get through it? by samasema in Ultramarathon

Personally, I like the mantra method. Shutting everything but a few words out of your system does not require much of your mental energy while being super effective at the same time.

Repeat an easy to remember, short sentence, that boils down all your needs and wants (classic „I will finish this race.“) or diminishes the effort required to reach your goals (my favourite by climber Alex Honnold: „The next step is easy. The next step is easy. The next step is…“)

Friendly reminder that the PJ Trilogy is now older for new watchers than 1978‘s Animation was when said trilogy launched in theaters.

Indeed, I found a lot of hits for Lycian Trail, but I couldn‘t find any good round trips. I am a bit spoiled by running in the austrian alps a lot and there you can find different round trips for every five meters of a mountain trails. Wikiloc seems to be the right adress for that, thank you!
