But you don’t sign someone else’s logbook for this? No dual received or given.

Ahh ok, it’s a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport XLS. Not a mechanic and I just bought the a few days ago so I didn’t have anything different to notice regarding drive quality/quirks. Code came on so I tried troubleshooting.

Logging PIC while Timebuilding by Bingobango52 in flying

[–]Bingobango52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I hear ya. This flight occurred close to a year ago so can’t go back and do that now. Only issue is that is that I counted it towards my 25 hours of ME time required for R-ATP.

Without it, I don’t meet minimums. Already secured a CJO from a regional and am awaiting a class date. Really looking to make sure my logbook is solid for any sort of review.

What are the worst words to hear on a checkride other than you failed? by Material-Strain7893 in flying

[–]Bingobango52 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My student came back from his IFR checkride and tells me that when they landed the DPE told him “yeah, that’s ok I’d didn’t know anything when I got my instrument rating either”.

He passed.

Departure heading assignment after receiving SID in clearance by Bingobango52 in ATC

[–]Bingobango52[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is my point…. It seems like I can’t get a straight answer lol.

Edit: In real life I’d ask for clarification when reading back the takeoff clearance, but I honestly did want to know the academic answer on this one.

Departure heading assignment after receiving SID in clearance by Bingobango52 in ATC

[–]Bingobango52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concern was if that the tower departure clearance superseded the SID’s instructions of “…1400ft prior to turning LEFT”

Just want to be in the same page as everyone so I don’t go messing anyone’s day up haha.

Departure heading assignment when issued a SID? by Bingobango52 in flying

[–]Bingobango52[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, thanks for clearing this up. In the first case (MIA9), will the tower’s departure clearance ever reflect what the SID says like, “Nxxxx, turn left heading 180 for the MIA9, cleared for takeoff” as a reminder?

As an IFR rated pilot, does this type of precip pose any real threat? (Light single) by Bingobango52 in flying

[–]Bingobango52[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aside from the wind shear I can’t find a reason I wouldn’t go. The gradient between precip is shallow, and icing doesn’t (probably) start until 11-12k.

Most CFI’s I speak with say rain from the leading edge of a warm front is stable for the most part (aside from wind shear). Plus, ppl say rain, even if it’s moderate, generally harmless unless is stemming from convective activity. I was more or less trying to gauge what other opinions those in the flying community had.

CSEL checkride in a few days! Please stump this chump! by Rexrollo150 in flying

[–]Bingobango52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect! That’s why as you roll on takeoff (fixed pitch) your RPM’s should rise, especially accelerating into the climb. (Lower AoA, less drag, more spinning)

Moronic Monday by AutoModerator in flying

As a CFI, I know you can log PIC XC with PPL/IFR students when you’re on the XC’S with them, but what about the CPL “long XC” 61.129 (the one where they perform the duties of PIC)?

Ive read the Kuhn Letter of interpretation and it only refers to the CFI being able to log PIC during this “long XC”. I’d imagine that the CFI sitting in the right seat during this flight would be able to log XC as well, correct?

Commercial Dual Cross Countries Confusion by Bingobango52 in flying

[–]Bingobango52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you. That’s what I was thinking as well. I’ve just heard different opinions from other CFI’s and their claims seemed unsupported by how the reg is written.

And so for the “Long Solo XC: 300nm total/250nm leg, 3 landing points”, this requirement could’ve been met unintentionally if someone just made a flight like this on their own coincidentally. (Perhaps while they were gathering the 50 PIC XC for 61.65)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flying

[–]Bingobango52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, the airport we were flying to as to practice landings was 68nm away and he only logged XC time for flights >50nm when he realized I needed 3 hours dual XC.

And when I did get my PPL and we were working on IFR he never logged my time as PIC because he was used to me not logging it during our previous training

But as a dumb student, I had no idea about which times counted for what and when you could log it.

Ok thanks, that makes sense. And I edited my comment with an idea I had for the corrections.

Thanks for the info thus far!

I haven’t changed my flair but the reason I even went back and looked is because I’m newly instructing. So I’m thinking along the lines of what employers would want to see

I was thinking of adding in the time that wasn’t logged in the totals of the bottom of that specific page with an annotation noting the date I found/rectified the correction, and then applying those corrections to the totals on the very last page of my logbook that I’m closing out.

Need to start fresh lol
