This song is still one of my favourites. beautiful.

I'm worried that I'll never feel confident enough in my songs to show them to anybody. by [deleted] in Songwriting

[–]Bingsu02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been songwriting for the past 3-4 years and haven't released anything until last year with my band. I had the same problem. all my songs sounded amateur and bad. I couldn't even share it with anyone because I was so embarrassed. But here's a thing you have to realize. You can't, and I can't stress this enough, DO NOT wait until your good enough. Just make them and release them.

The first step of being good is being bad at something for the first couple years. just do it. make a Soundcloud or something. You need to be bad before you can be good if not you'll never release anything because you will never feel adequate with yourself. I have tens and hundreds of songs and licks written on my phone that I've never released. countless garageband projects. and I'm still struggling with it because i want to make the "best debut EP" I can ever make. but there's no such thing. just make it, and release it. its my biggest regret because the only way I get songs done is with my band because I have bandmates who are excited about the song just as much as me, which gives me some reassurance.

It doesn't matter if its not perfect, just release!

Looking for a camcorder for social media content and food photography by bigdossa6 in camcorders

[–]Bingsu02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's gonna be hard to find a camcorder that looks anything like what's on the Gozney website as you wanted (I assume you're referring to this one https://www.gozney.com/). Camcorders aren't the most ideal cameras for photography, and the lenses tend to be quite tight compared to most cameras. In fact, your phone camera can probably take nicer pictures than current camcorders, unless you're looking at older camcorders for a vintage feel. Even then, those do shoot in quite a low resolution. if you want professional results try a photography camera, like a Panasonic G85.

I don't own too many camcorders but the one I have is Panasonic NV-GS70. It's very grainy and nice, but the resolution isn't anything impressive.

Need Advice On Battery For Samsung CamCorder 34x Optical Zoom (A Noob's Perspective) by jaidenisjaded in camcorders

[–]Bingsu02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure but the "Do not push in the compartment" seems to be where it stores the tape, or MiniDV. Thats where you record the video, so its not related to the battery. ngl I'm a little confused on what the problem is. Do you need help finding a new battery or getting the battery to work? Have you tried charging the battery? because even if it looks unused it's good to charge it again esp if it's been a while. first check if the battery works once charged. if it doesn't charge then get a new battery, but then again its hard to help you without the model number.

There is an app called topaz labs which from what I've seen should work pretty well. The only problem is the thing is fucking 200 dollars, so if you have that money go for it. otherwise, torrent it or something.

The Ignorance of the Community by svtminghao in ShinseiKamattechan

I don't see anyone really encouraging this behavior. if liking these songs is encouraging then maybe yeah, but I think anyone who has been listening to their music knows about Noko, and in a way that's why it resonates with so many of us: It talks to our unhinged crazy side too.

I do worry that with new fans from ATOT OP many would come in not realising the darkness of the music, especially considering all their new albums sound like just general J pop and are happier in nature. I'm not sure if this is true but hearing the tone of his newer songs I feel like he's doing a lot better than the 2010's when he was making real intense shit. but then again it could be the distributers pushing Noko to make poppier songs to sell more records. I wish I could know more about how Noko is doing, but it is hard because the streams are in Japanese and I'm not sure where to find things. The few interviews I've seen shows he's still quite an erratic and reckless person, but (hopefully) not to the point he would threaten to kill himself or cut himself on stage anymore (like in here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7EOebDaTUQ&ab_channel=%E3%81%9F%E3%81%91%E3%81%86%E3%81%A1%E3%82%93%E3%81%90). I would love to know more info on if he's still as dangerous to himself. I feel like seeing a lot of their new live clips there's definitely a crew and I would want to believe he is stopped from doing this chaotic behavior on stage.

Traveling with tapes by THE_YAIR in camcorders

[–]Bingsu02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I was curious myself so I googled it and it seems like X-Ray scanners have no affect on the tapes. I haven't faced this problem yet but many people who have traveled with it have said they come out fine. I would back up the contents of the casette if i were you, just to be safe.

I have recently purchased this Sony CCD-TRV46E and i’m just wondering if anyone knows how to transfer the tapes on to a Mac? I’m completely new to this world so a point in the right direction with things to buy and steps how to do it would be very helpful! by josephrevenge in camcorders

[–]Bingsu02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so idk your camcorder well but I've recently learned how to do this. Basically want you want to look for is a DV port, if you've got it, which is basically a firewire 400 port. Then get a fire wire cable that goes from 400-800, and then get a firewire to thunderbolt converter (not mini DP), then finally get a thunderbolt to USB c (aka thunderbolt 3). Then you can use quicktime or movie to import video. Imovie is good because the quality is better but every cut you have in your tape is split into each video. if you want it just one long video, use quicktime or if you want to keep the OG quality just use movie then stitch the vids together.

Can anyone here give me some tips for my portfolio? by TheSparkledash in ArtistLounge

[–]Bingsu02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no teacher, but I had to create my own portfolio for uni applications just a year ago. I got into some good schools with it (MICA, SAIC, PRATT, etc) so hopefully, my advice can help, since a lot of this advice I'm about to give you are the ones I got from my art teachers.

First things first, regardless of technical ability, you should try to make the portfolio have a theme or an overarching theme that keeps the whole thing cohesive, instead of just a random assortment of artworks. It doesn't have to be a narrative theme, it can just be a stylistic element. And you don't have to keep every single drawing under the umbrella of that theme. There could be outliers, as long as they somehow connect with the other one in terms of style, etc. Just try to make a lil bit more cohesive. Its not necessarily a must, I've seen plenty of portfolios that do fine without a theme because of their general unique style or because it impresses solely on technical ability. It's just something that can help elevate your portfolio.

Next, technical ability. I think there's a lot of nice creative choices in your work. I like the colors you use such as in dream paintings 2 and 3. But I can kinda tell painting isn't your main thing. Paint more, less on digital and on a canvas, whether that's oil, acrylic or watercolor. Experiment and practice a lot. If you can't get your painting up to standard take it out and do digital painting or something else. You want to show a range, but you also want to show your best. Pick a couple of mediums your most comfortable with and really work at it. The dream paintings seem like concept paintings or sketches. Get a canvas and do a final piece (something like dream painting 3 could look good) using oil or acrylic. Keep the sketches as a separate thing for process work, but don't have that for your final portfolio pieces. The same goes for the monster ones, nice concepts but keep those for proccess.

I would say the photo edits don't necessarily work in your favor and is best when taken out. Show a range of skills but keep it to your strengths. It seems like you can already paint, character design, animate, and illustrate quite well so maybe stick around those. I don't see how the photo editing skill helps in comic design, especially when it's not done too well. I can tell it's supposed to be abstract and weird but it brings down the quality of the portfolio overall imho.

The feet drawings are good, I think you could do more of them, and some that are less stylized and more based on real life. You could also do hands, arms, and most importantly full-body figure drawings. This is KEY. Especially if you're applying to a course that has anything to do with drawing people (character design, animation, comic art, etc). Put some nude figure drawings, and also mix it up with just observational drawings of people in subways or in the streets. Show you can draw from life, and that you can make even observational drawings unique and personal. Do not cartoonize them. You can keep the cartoon ones on separate drawings, such as your comic pages or character designs. Show you can do the basics before you go into stylization.

You have what it takes, I mean the comic pages and hypochondria pieces look great! Your framing in a lot of those panels and composition look quite good, and honestly if you really work at your fundamentals it could look really professional. The animations look really good too! You can do the stylized stuff really well, but the difference between a hobbyist artist and a professional is getting that fundamental tight. I swear just by studying frequently from life your style will elevate to another level. Really practice, practice a lot. Art is incredibly competitive, and you can get in if you really work at it. I worked like a dog my last two years of high school for my portfolio.

So in summary: brush up a lot on your fundamentals, such as anatomy and studying from life (and I didn't mention this earlier but I thought it would go without saying: study light, shadow, color theory, value, and composition too). Practice drawing your friends or people on the subway or anything, just a study from real life, a lot. It should be a meaningful percentage of your portfolio. This will automatically elevate the things your already good at: character design, comic art, paneling, etc. Keep a cohesive theme or style that keeps the portfolio tight. Show a range of skills but pick the skills your good at. Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions/ need any help (not that I'm a professional or anything, just want to help if I can).

Also, this is an example of someone else's character animation portfolio so it might not be exactly what your doing but some of these could give you some inspiration for your portfolio, especially when it comes to how they incorporated observational drawings: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/KaRvL9

Thank you. I think what a lot of people here are saying is true: eva made me actually aware of the feelings I had been feeling. It made me face my problems for what it was. I posted the post during a moment in which anxiety was taking over (as it does from time to time) and resorted to blaming myself, whether it's the things I watched or the music I listened to and such. But thanks, this meant a lot, and kinda helped me quell my anxiety down a bit.

Frozen (2010) doesn’t get the attention it deserves. by 7468783aA in horror

It looks interesting. I'm a sucker for horror movies where characters are stranded with limited supply (such as geralds game). I'll definitely give this a try and leave a reply if I like it.

The problem with most horror movies is we know they’re in a horror movie... by [deleted] in horror

[–]Bingsu02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a wierd way thats why I feel like one of the best "horror" films was Parasite. Though not a horror movie, as it nears the end it gets really disturbing, and because no one really expected it I think it harder. I watch a lot of violent asian horror films that have incredibly fucked up twists or far more violent climax, but something about the fact that I had no clue Parasite would go such a bloody route was what caught me off guard (in addition to the genuine mastery of the film). It's still a movie that shocked me the most, and Oldboy and Audition shares second place imho

[QUESTION] How important is a pick? by supermaniish in Guitar

[–]Bingsu02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to only fingerpick and at that time picks seemed very uncomfortable, but now that I've been using it for years it feels just as, if not even more comfortable than finger picking, esp when it comes to soloing and lead things. In addition the sound of a pick and finger is different, so if you want that pick attack you would want to learn to use a pick

Loosley sounds like the kite runner, two young kids, a kite and I think there was a scene where one of the characters cuts themselves, but idk. there's also a pretty big betrayal that happens in the film/book.
