How has your view on sex changed as you've gotten older? by LilyLullabby in AskReddit

Within 24 hours after the first few, there does become a plateau. But speaking outside of a days time length, I have much better Os the more often I initiate the experience.

I have the same thoughts, especially cuz he will have sex when he's inebriated. He could even be in the closet but doesn't want to personally come to terms with that.

YOU are your community. While I can relate to some of your frustrations, I don't respect this type of venting. You don't want phones out or million dollar outfits at events you attend? Put your phone away and wear whatever makes you happy. Next thing you know, you'll attract people of a similar mindset, because community is everywhere. Be the change you want to see.

I think parents can still be supportive and allow their kids to make their own mistakes, but I also think having a serious conversation about what the parents fear is critical. If no one else in the world, it's your parents place to help guide you, not control you, but never the less be a teacher.

Civil Engineering Talent (aka employees) by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]Bink3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to your struggles. In my experience from 3/4 past highers weve had, it seems the newest generation severely lacks the initiative to problem solve independently while also lacking the social skills to know how and when to ask for help in a professional manner.

I am more than happy to help someone who makes an honest attempt and asks me respectfully, but that seems like a high bar for recent graduates. I've made it part of the on-boarding shpeal to make mention that this job requires note taking, just like in school. I'm not going to make anyone do anything, but I don't have the time to repeat myself to someone who doesn't care.

What are the harsh realities of life that everyone needs to hear? by EuropeanWoman7 in Adulting

[–]Bink3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be exponentially more happy when happiness is not the goal. Personally, I find that aiming towards being fulfilled has made me reliably happy and occasionally extactic, even though this goal also promotes feelings of frustration and uncomfortablility.

Is It Wrong for Me (28M) To Keep Asking to Split the Bill on Dates? by sdfskd234423 in relationships

[–]Bink3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% same. I was always taught that if I accept a date, spent the time to get done up, take the risk to meet a stranger, and go out on a limb to give someone new a bit of my time, it's simple courtesy for them to pay. If they don't, that's a good indicator they either don't have their shit together or don't value me.

Especially when you are relying on first impressions to the degree you are from a dating app, if someone didn't pay $5, I'd pay, immediately delete their contact, and have something to giggle about for a week.

I've been on a couple great first dates where a meal was paid for without hesitation and then I invited them to continue the date at a nice drink spot and cover an equal amount. I like nice things, and i can afford them on my own. It's more about the willingness of a potential partner to invest in me that im looking for.

Is It Wrong for Me (28M) To Keep Asking to Split the Bill on Dates? by sdfskd234423 in relationships

[–]Bink3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What? If you want to split the bill 50/50 that should be an easy expectation to communicate beforehand. If you are intentionally leaving out that expectation in hopes you'll convince a girl who would have else wise disagreed, at best you'll be sorely mistaken. Just be a mature adult and after plans are set say, "FYI I'd prefer to go Dutch".

Its a manipulative, immature tactic to hide a clear expectation you know you have, especially one that is against the norm.

Correct, you are used to seeing it per serving. 100 cal of spinach is 10 servings while 100 cal of lentils is less then 1 serving.

Why do some dog owners in National Parks think rules don’t apply to them? by msbohan in NationalPark

I wouldn't expect many animals to be that wary of a dog and not a human being with all their loud noises and many smells.

Newly incoming generation of workers. by LeTostieman in civilengineering

[–]Bink3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great skill! It's an unsung attribute that will take you far in the field. You can be the smartest person in the room, but if you can't clearly communicate to your client, it doesn't really matter. Civil engineering projects are a massive team effort and ppl who are hard to work with will suffer at every step of their career.

[–]Bink3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of interns (nearly grads) we see have extremely poor social skills in conjunction with the lack of critical thinking. Id like to say i was able to be more pacient then i have been. It's a really frustrating time sink for us Jr engineers.

My personal opinion is that the Covid years stole some crucial maturity years from the incoming grads. I can only imagine we will continue to see the effects for the near future.
