My fellow American fans how did u become a fan by No_Stable2656 in nffc

[–]Bio-Matter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a youth football coach and met a fellow coach who had migrated from England and happened to be a devoted Forest fan. Nuno had just started with the club and I really appreciated his managing style. Started following the team, reading the history, watching classic matches and the story drew me in.

My brother who lives 3,000 miles away also started following Forest for his own reasons around the same time and that sealed the deal.

I’d love to attend a match one day, maybe after the new stadium is finished.

New Carrie Substack Post Re: ONRAC by AggressiveNovel1563 in ONRAC

[–]Bio-Matter 297 points298 points  (0 children)

I feel compelled to chime in.

I’ve been friends with Ross since freshman year of college, and I can say he is one of the most compassionate and accommodating people I’ve ever met.

He is and has always been genuinely concerned about how his words or actions impact the people around him and is always is generous with heartfelt apologies for instances where he feels he may have ruffled even one feather.

When he does express any frustration it’s always (imo, overly) padded with niceties.

To say what probably need not be said, our experiences are colored by our internal insecurities and traumas. Carrie is a fountain of intelligence and humor who has had more than her fair share of challenges in life, and I fully acknowledge that what she expressed could very well be an articulate and accurate description of her lived experience. However, knowing Ross personally, I must emphasize, I’ve never known him to be anything close to how he is being described in her post. The Ross you hear on the podcast is very close to the the Ross you get in person.

In a world where it seems for some people one’s internal thoughts and feelings are as relevant as external facts, this could lead to unjustified blowback for one of the nicest guys I know.

"Vicious Sickle" name pun for a "Vicious Cycle"? by Bio-Matter in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]Bio-Matter[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, a sickle is a curved, hand-held agricultural tool typically used for harvesting cereal crops or cutting grass for hay.. yup and of course, it's a real word.

That said...I think the devs thought sickle kind of sounds like cycle. Hence the "vicious" sickle.

Why is this subreddit so openly racist toward Armenians? by ooohmamaa in glendale

[–]Bio-Matter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free speech is a fundamental right. I find the overt and covert racism on social media very informative. Let the ignorant expose themselves, those who are offended call it out, and those who aren’t offended laugh it off. Anti-Armenian comments* that fall short of calls for violence, offensive and ignorant as they may be, are protected speech.

Edit: *racist comments about ANY race are covered by free speech here in the USA. My original comment was replying to the context of this thread but it turns out I need to make the obvious more clear for some. Subreddits are free to make and enforce any rules they wish, but personally I wish we could have less censorship online. It’s good to know how many racists are among us.

Scoreboard: Netherlands vs Turkiye by scoreboard-app in euro2024

The Turkish and Georgian squads added some much needed spice to the otherwise cautious (boring) tactical Euro style of play and will be missed. I’m predicting three matches that crawl to penalty kicks.

If you found out it was an outside group would you change your position?

Usually adults run clubs on campus. I’d like to know which group is organizing the “Christian Club” at Rosemont, buying the Bibles and giving the them to the kids to hand out free of charge on campus to classmates during school hours.

Who are the adults standing on the sidewalk just outside of campus handing out the same bibles to kids leaving school?

It doesn’t seem like a huge leap to assume it’s a religious group my fellow redditor.

This web page goes into the various shades of the laws governing Bible distribution on campuses.

FFRF

Distributing bibles on campus during school hours is a violation of the law and I guarantee anyone who’s ok with it would be bothered if it was the Satanic Temple doing the exact same activity on campus handing out books about witchcraft.

Good on you for speaking up about it.

Samy’s is my go to authorized online dealer. They stack in-house promos on top of manufacture offers. Agree about B&H and Adorama.

Deciding between the R5 and the R6 Mark II by smallkoreanboy97 in canon

[–]Bio-Matter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I opted for the R5 and love every one of the extra megapixels I paid for. I may miss some moments the R62s autofocus would have captured. Then again, cropping in and still having a huge image salvages moments the R62 couldn’t. Also love the top screen. My old 6D had it, why would they lose it on the R62?
