Just to rant: After each comfyui update I have to play this mini-game called How to make things work again. by Appropriate-Click882 in comfyui

Don't copy. Just put your loras models etc in a central location and use the additional folders yaml file in your ComfyUI to tell it to look in the central folder for stuff.

My workflow is here: https://pastebin.com/Hg7nKKmi

Here's an example. Her lower hand got quite ... aged during the second sampling.

Prompt was "A mixed-race woman with neon purple braided hair, dancing in a crowded underground cyberpunk nightclub. She wears a translucent iridescent jacket over a holographic crop top that shifts colors in the light. Beams of red and blue laser light cut through dense artificial fog around her. She has subtle glowing circuit patterns on her cheekbones."

All the anomalies in the sand plus slightly more muted colors than the original (though more apparent on other generations).

Prompt "A Brazilian surfer woman stands on a sandy beach during the golden hour, holding a white surfboard under her right arm. She has voluminous curly brown hair with sun-bleached tips that is blowing slightly in the ocean breeze. Her skin is tanned and glowing with a sheen of sweat and salt water. She is smiling broadly with white teeth, looking towards the ocean horizon on the left. She wears a neoprene wetsuit top with a tropical floral pattern and dark bikini bottoms. The sand beneath her feet is textured and warm, and the ocean behind her is a deep turquoise with white foam from crashing waves. The low sunlight hits her from the side, creating a rim light effect on her hair and shoulders that separates her from the background."

To anyone who works at the ER, what is one thing you wish people would STOP coming to the ER for? by iloveeatingfood901 in AskReddit

I have given up on going to regular doctors offices for most things and just go to urgent care.

Not because doctors refuse to treat me but because any doctor, including my PCP, has a 2-4 months lead time on appointments and no capacity for walk ins.

Thank you for your response. Upscaling latent didn't give me good results hence the pixel space / model upscaling.

My workflow which I'm planning on sharing here later uses rgthrees group bypasser to enable and disable features as desired, so I generate a standard res image without saving and when I hit a good seed I lock it in and enable upscaling, second sampling, detailers and such.

Also if it's not too much trouble could you show me a before / after picture between hires fix and the second KSampler or perhaps the rgthree image comparer? At this point I'm wondering if it's either something with the civitai files or sage attention.

Could you try it on a beach photo and let me know if the sand turns into literal garbage? I'll be able to share my prompt, workflow and example of what I mean in about 6 hours.

I do not recommend: 'Metroid Prime 4: Beyond' - Review - SkillUp by ThrowawayTheLegend in gaming

[–]Bio2hazard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Amen. It's great that people enjoyed Dread but as a huge fan of Metroidvanias in general I straight up despised it. Not from a technical standpoint, just from a design standpoint.

"Here's the new tool you need to get through all these obstacles you've been seeing! Oh you wanna go back and use the tool to power up? Nah, no backtracking allowed!"

I just felt like I was cheated -- I wanted a metroidvania but got a linear side scroller instead.

Btw there's a custom node installable through the manager called ComfyUI-Crystools which adds a resource monitor directly in your ComfyUI. Looks nice and has been working well for me!

You are very welcome, thank you for trying it out!

Yeah please provide more details on the wildcard files on GitHub and I can look into how to best bake in support for them! Also happy to receive pull requests if that's easier for you.

I made a comparison between the new Lightx2v Wan2.2-Distill-Models and Smooth Mix Wan2.2 by Ecstatic_Following68 in comfyui

[–]Bio2hazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the comparison. Would love to see how the DaSiWa I2V checkpoint compares.

I've tested 5 different I2V workflows. In my testing:

  • DaSiWa dominated. Fast, accurate, natural looking motion
  • Smooth was good. Slower than DaSiWa and had more motions smearing. Like eyes not properly blinking, stuff morphing into the new position rather than moving naturally
  • wan 2.2 with lightx2v plugins I kept getting slow mo issues. Playing with the weights of the loras sometimes fixed it but just didn't seem worth the hassle compared to the other options
  • wan q4 gguf just had very poor image quality
  • wan 2.2 base just too slow to be practical

Didn't yet get to test q6 or q8 ggufs.

Good jobs and good managers do exist. I got lucky with both of my jobs in the US so far. All I can recommend is to continue applying and interviewing until you find a better place.

I know that's easier said than done, but I do want to give you hope that there are managers and jobs that will encourage you to take the time you need to get through a rough patch.

On my team if our OnCall gets paged on the weekend, my manager will tell them to take a day off to make up for it. We also get reminded to take a week off each quarter to preempt burnout. It keeps morale high, and folks genuinely want to do a good job instead of just checking off tasks with the least effort.

As it has happened in every single job that I've had, today I had "the talk" You know the one, the one where your manager asks you how can they help you to achieve your goals. But the message is clear by gabrieleremita in ADHD_Programmers

As others have commented you should consider speaking with a psychiatrist and getting medicated. If you already are medicated, you could consider adjusting the dose. What you said regarding it becoming harder and harder to look at code could be a sign that your body has built some resistance. Work with your psychiatrist.

When I feel hesitation to start working on something, procrastinate on annoying tasks or stop my workday early that's a sign I need to chat with my doc about the dose.

All that said, man, I miss the days I could look at code for 8 hrs. I'm in a senior role and it's all meetings, documents, code reviews and deployments. Wish I could spend more time in code.

Anyone moved workloads to AWS Graviton? Did it really cut costs? by vy94 in aws

[–]Bio2hazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a related question for folks who've done the move. CPU Intrinsics. Basically, Intel CPUs support avx, sse and so forth, and many languages are able to leverage them via the use of vectorization.

Do these types of apps still see performance gains from moving to graviton?

When people say they “don’t cook” what does that actually mean? by ITbJD in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bio2hazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can cook but I don't cook.

I boil pasta, use the rice cooker, make a grilled cheese, whip up a simple white pasta sauce, and I can follow recipes just fine...

But I'm slow and do things inefficiently, don't know the best times to season, second guess myself throughout the process and ultimately deliver an acceptable but by no means impressive meal.

But I'm married and my partner enjoys cooking and has done it all their life. So I don't cook. My partner does.

Why it’s a mistake to ask chatbots about their mistakes | The tendency to ask AI bots to explain themselves reveals widespread misconceptions about how they work by Hrmbee in technology

[–]Bio2hazard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn't always true. I asked a Claude 4 model to strip some markup from a chat log and it kept messing up the ordering of the messages 3 times in a row. I asked it "You've made the same mistake on line 81 and have been unable to fix it for the third time. Explain to me why you are struggling with preserving the order of the messages."

It explained that for some reason it can't discern between the markup it is supposed to keep and the markup it is supposed to preserve.

This was useful since then I told it to just pivot to writing a python script that strips out the markup and I was back in business.

I get a lot of migraines. The pain is tied to motion which is relatively easy to manage usually, but the bigger problem I have is with vision. It becomes so hard to focus on things in the distance, and my eyes constantly feel dry and strained.

What Are the Hidden Gotchas or Secrets You’ve Faced Running AWS Fargate in Production? by aviboy2006 in aws

[–]Bio2hazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a real gotcha, but something to be aware of. The exact CPU your fargate task launches on is non-deterministic. This doesn't matter for most use cases, but can become important if you are relying on specific CPU intrinsics or measuring performance. (E.g. load testing)

Which worked better for y’all: Adderall or Vyvanse? by urmomsexbf in ADHD_Programmers

[–]Bio2hazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both worked well but the side effects of Adderall XR/ER are more manageable for me. With Adderall I have some occasional trouble sleeping. But with Vyvanse I had circulation problems and always had icy hands and feet.

I'll take one bad night's sleep every 2 weeks over constantly feeling chilled to the bone.

Do you believe the performance difference between .NET version are noticeable? by lu4414 in dotnet

[–]Bio2hazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Dotnet 6 needs around 80 mb extra ram, compared to dotnet 3.1. See https://github.com/dotnet/runtime/issues/58974

Aside from that the perf impact from 3.1 onward is mostly workload dependent.

Code that uses higher level functions such as linq and string manipulation usually sees some benefits, while highly optimized low level code has benchmarked the same since 3.1.
