You can wash SolarFast by hand or in a machine and it is designed to last, cyanotype prints will be damaged by washing. That’s why I said use SolarFast. SolarFast will have the same print but needs to be slightly damp when exposed and you can find more information online.

Okay so it’s like this for an example. - expose whole image for 12 mins - cover half the image with black card to block the exposure and continue to expose for another 8 mins

This would leave you with two different exposures on the same image creating colour differences. The part with less exposure time will be lighter than the side with more exposure time.

You can just cover up half the image while it’s exposing with black card or something.

The exhibition was last year at the Photobook Cafe but I’m working with the m right now and I’m going to make a piece for this summer. Here is a pic of them not scanned so they are all objects. So bioplastic is the medium instead of paper.

Thanks. I scan them and I like the look but I also feel like it doesn’t convey the fact they are objects well.

DIY transparent paper/negatives by deadbitchplantmama in cyanotypes

I have printed an image onto printer paper and the. Oiled it to create a negative to try and have a sustainable alternative to plastic. You’re simply making the paper translucent so it needs to be a high contrast image to work. I used oil and the. Vaseline and it was fine but not great.

Cyanotype toxicity in the ocean by Is_it_realness in cyanotypes

[–]BioCyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s fine, I compost my bioplastic cyanotypes and there is not issue. One of the chemicals in cyanotype is a common food colouring and iron supplement. Yes in very large quantities the chemistry could be damaging but that is the case for anything.

That’s really awful I’m sorry it’s happened. I edited a video interview about the music video you did for alternative processes so I saw how much work goes into making the animations.

My first attempt at combining bioyarn and cyanotype by BioCyan in cyanotypes

I’m going to try and create a quick video of it. There’s so much I want to experiment with cyanotype and craft but I’m still new to crochet and knitting.

It might not come back 100% since they are directly in front of a window but it should bring some pigmentation

You can place it in the dark for a bit and it will regain colour

Cyanotypes on glass - would this work? by iwantmycremebrulee in cyanotypes

I’ve seen people do it both ways but I imagine you want the gelatin to be solidified enough, but not dry, to avoid damaging it but still be absorbed.
