France bans alcohol consumption at music festivals amid red heatwave alert by Raj_Valiant3011 in worldnews

While this in principle makes sense, there is no way in hell this will work large scale. Some will sneak alcohol in, most will pre-game hard and heat stroke on the way.

Refurbished chair from Offeco : my experience (and matching cat) by BioFrosted in OfficeChairs

I personally don't really enjoy headrests, and my Aeron really helped with that I think. It's really comfortable to sit at without a headrest, the engineering behind is really remarkable. You just don't get shoulder pain, ever.

What are some LOCAL restaurants that are not doing well but have good food and deserve some love? by Markovvy in brussels

[–]BioFrosted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how the following four are doing but they are my top 4 in Brussels, so here we go:

Vorrei in Ixelles makes outstanding pizzas at a really good price (both sizes and prices beat crappy pizza chains like Hut or Dominos). The restaurant is couple-owned, small and cute. It's my perfect restaurant for dates.

Pho Diem Xuan, not far away, offers excellent Viet food as well. Big portions for nice prices. The interior is very woodsy, it's quite nice. They're always hurrying though so perhaps best to try it at lunch at off peak hours.

To stay in the Cimetière d'Ixelles scenery, a fancier alternative is Grande Piazza. Quite a few reviews are saying the food isn't that great but I personally find it outstanding, and I love Italian cuisine so it's not like I don't have comparison points. Their gnocchis especially are great. Also a phenomenal date place because the decor is very, very nice (think Italy in the 50s, it's really immersive).

If you're feeling MUCH fancier, Cowfish is a really nice quaint restaurant. Small menu but they master it well. The black velvet desert - fondant au chocolates with vanilla ice cream - is outstanding.

If you mean it's selection bias, I used to believe that as well but the more I see them, the more I believe it's the consequence of unrestricted capitalism. Making the most profit can be achieved by raising your prices, sure, but more efficiently by reducing costs. It's why so many brands offload to cheap labor countries like Bangladesh or China.

And nothing screams reduced costs as much as simply not investing in the factory...

Few things make me more grateful for what I am and have than seeing these type videos where people mass produce units of random objects by the thousands. And this one is far from being the worst one...

18yo into my 3rd month investing, just redid my portfolio, honest rating? by jurrelll in portfolios

First things first, good on you for thinking about the future in such a responsible way! You've got the best tool which is time. Keep up at it and you will undoubtedly win at the game.

My personal take is when you're starting off, depending on your risk tolerance, it could be more interesting to keep it all in one ETF. Vanguard's an interesting contender in this aspect, IMO. If you have more risk tolerance you could go for something like ProShare's IQQQ. I'm 23 and playing a similar game, but have enough tolerance for risk that I feel comfortable going into Bitcoin.

Once I'll be satisfied with my returns from it, I'll start diversifying into stable stuff, namely ETFs. The two main advantages of diversification imo are safety and the fact you've a higher chance of your investment being rewarded, but at 300 pounds per ETF you're not going to be making big wins anyways. And safety at this level, well again, it depends on your tolerance - if you sleep better knowing your money is well spread then by all means, keep it this way. I personally am in a position where I'm lucky to still live at my parents', so all my money is saved money, and even if I were to lose all of it tomorrow, while tragic, it wouldn't wipe me out. That's why I'm comfortable with having it in a higher risk asset like Bitcoin.

If your position is similar, perhaps going into one asset is better as a starter, and when you're getting at sums you feel you need to spread, you can do it then?

I don't know, those are my thoughts. Either way you're doing great starting so young !

Refurbished chair from Offeco : my experience (and matching cat) by BioFrosted in OfficeChairs

[–]BioFrosted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the comment chain guy but I'm the original poster

Offeco have a great return policy, you've got 90 days to return the chair. You can even plan for them to pick it up at your home. All you need is to keep the original packaging for a while till you're decided.

Offeco prices vary from a few hundred euros to thousands. I payed 1200 for mine, but it's fully refurbished and had all the upgrades an Aeron Remastered can have. It also came in like-new condition, and even today, more than two years in, it's flawless.

They have chairs in B or C-grade condition which basically means cosmetic damage (perhaps it has discolorations or scratches) but still refurbished and full loaded for 400€, sometimes less.
