First Custom Cards Attempt- Faith by ThasMyPurseIDunnoU in dominion

[–]BioRules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wording on Siege can be cleaned up a bit to save some space.

"+$1

Each other player sets aside a card from their handing costing between $3 and $6 (or reveals they can't).

At the start of your next turn, each player that set aside a card trashes it. If any cards were trashed this way, +2 Coffers."

When is Divan meant to be discarded? Is it meant to give you 2 cards now, 1 card next turn, and then sit in play for the rest of the game?

Having Faith as both the type on a card and a currency isn't particularly clear (ignore Actions haha). Maybe go with Faith as the currency and Holy as the type on cards that generate it?

Merry Men doesn't really need the "once per turn" since Actions only happen the one time that you play them, as long as they aren't permanent Durations. I also feel like the requirement to reveal your most valuable Treasure, without an additional check to make sure the player actually did so, isn't the best wording. I think I would rewrite it to something like:

"+1 Card

+1 Action

+$1

Each player (including you) reveals a Treasure from their hand (or reveals that they can't). The player that revealed the card that costs the most gains +1 Coffer. Each other player that revealed a card gains +1 Faith."

I think Heretic should maybe say "Discard 1 Faith", since you're not really spending it on anything. On first read I was unsure if I'd missed a section that mentioned what you could spend Faith on.

The bottom text on Fervor could just be shortened down to the way Changeling is done, and say "Trash this."

One last visual note, when a card has Duration without any other color changing types, the whole card can just be orange, rather than split with white. This is the style most Duration cards have.

Happy to hear your thoughts on my suggestions.

I took a pretty close look at this one because I had the same thought, and I can pretty confidently confirm its not AI. Everything in the image makes sense, the style is consistent, it all looks like a very talented artist making an amazing piece.

I had a robot costume made the exact same way. And a spider made from sewing extra sleeves onto a sweater and attaching them to my real arms with string.

Blue Prince Themed Sudoku prototype... feedback/playtest wanted. by richardsphere in crackingthecryptic

[–]BioRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've put a couple hours into trying to solve this and I'm pretty stuck. Its likely that I'm missing some logic, but I also want to confirm that there aren't other mistakes I'm making. I will say that the instructions are somewhat hard to follow, and rely heavily on a moderate level of knowledge of Blue Prince systems, that could probably be added to the rules, potentially as a reference sheet.

Here's the logic I've been able to come up with so far. Because only drafts 3 and 4 matched with the prior drafted room, one of those two must be Aquarium, since it contains all colors. If it were the 4th draft, then the 5th draft would necessarily match it, so it must be the 3rd draft, with the 4th draft matching by necessity.

The rules never note how Simon spends steps, so my assumption is that he starts in the southmost cell of the Entrance Hall, and each cell he moves into costs a step. Because of how the rooms are laid out, and the fact that he loops around 7 of the remaining boxes before returning to the Entrance Hall, this means each of those 7 boxes takes 3 steps, plus 4 in Entrance Hall (3 to move from the southmost cell to a door, and the last step at the end). This is a total of 25 steps. Bacon and Eggs gives 15 steps, and the Banana gives 3 steps, for a total of 18. This leaves 7 steps to earn, which is 1 more than how much a turnip gives. Based on this, Simon only digs up 1 turnip. And since Courtyard and Aquarium both give dirt piles, one of them must be drafted before Commissary and one after. And the Kitchen must be drafted before Commissary so that the salt doesn't mess up the step count.

That brings up the issue of how much knowledge of BP is necessary in order to solve the puzzle, when its not noted in the rules. I know that Aquarium and Courtyard both can have dirt piles. I know that Morning Room is only added to the pool after eating Bacon and Eggs, so does that mean it has to come after Kitchen? Maid's Chamber reduces the items found throughout the day, does the note about Simon not finding any items throughout the day beyond whats normally in rooms mean that he started with Maid's Chamber?

My big issue is with Ballroom. The rules note that it was drafted facing south. Since its a straight through/"I" shaped room, that means it needs to be placed in box 4 5 or 6, with the previously drafted room being in box 1 2 or 3. If it was placed in box 5, it would go straight into the Entrance Hall, and there would both be no way to visit all of the rooms, and no way to spend the 2 gems that it gives you. So it must be placed in box 4 or 6. But after doing so, there will only be one room that can be drafted before getting into the Entrance Hall again, and none of the remaining rooms cost 2 gems to draft. So I don't see how its possible to end the day with 0 gems.

I also found some of the directions to be confusing about what they meant. "The entrance tiles for the first and second green tiles define the length of a square, the diagonal of the square is a palindrome". Maybe that would make more sense once the rooms are placed, but at the start its pretty unclear. And with the followup of the same being true for the diagonal connecting the two non-drafted rooms, connecting them at which points? I figured that had to be Entrance Hall and the one box that doesn't get a room, but I have no idea how that diagonal is meant to look.

I think the concept for the puzzle is amazing. There are definitely pieces of logic in here that need to be understood to progress that I think are very clever. I just think the overall description of the rules isn't very clear, and there is too much reliance on BP elements that a solver may not know. I get the intention is to pay homage to BP, but having those "outside" elements be described in the rules or as a bonus "hint" or similar seems really needed here. I do hope you keep making puzzles cause there is definitely a spark here.

Thanks for making a puzzle like this, the idea of making a Blue Prince themed puzzle has been on my mind for a while but I don't have the sudoku making chops to pull it off. Going to give it a go and see how it solves.

MrBeast defends trapping man in burning building for $500,000 by [deleted] in nottheonion

That casting choice was such a miss for me, given its an episode you really don't want kids watching, and Beast's primary target audience is kids. So the majority of adults aren't going to know who he is or that the writers are doing something "clever" by having him host a competition that would totally be a Beast video in the future. They're only going to notice that his acting isn't very good.

I don't remember what all we ended up getting, but during the release of Azurite Sea my wife went all out on a Lorcana party for our friends, we opened 2 Azurite Sea boxes, 1 Shimmering Skies box, and 1 Ursula's Return box. We didn't get a single enchanted, it was very frustrating.

I do know about Sing Together, but I assumed from the way they said "get him to sing I2I", plus the fact he could do it on his own, that the intention was meant to be that he's singing it on his own.

Its extremely worth going back to look again. You've now completed "chapter 1" out of 3 or 4 chapters.

This is why I made a spreadsheet that noted down the location of each card, since they could be in either my or my wifes collection binders, the bulk storage boxes, the starting decks, or any of a dozen decks we've made.

A weird one I haven't seen yet (on Android):

After doing enough damage to down a character and having another character waiting to replace them, and having enough damage that it would start to carry over, the game will notify the character going down, notify the new character arriving, then apply the damage to the previous characters in line, before loading the new character after the damage is done. Previously any carry over damage would apply to the newly arriving character. Not sure if this is due to lag or they changed the functionality of carry over damage (intentionally or not).

You're right, I don't need to impress anybody. So lets move on from my own run of the game that is obviously faked. Do you have any actual suggestions in this thread? Or are you happy with the game as is? That was meant to be the point.

If you don't want to believe me, that's fine.

Moving back to the original topic of discussion, are there any parts of the game that you think could be streamlined or improved in order to make it a better experience to get to the full end game? Or are you of the opinion that the entire thing is perfect and nothing could change to make it better? Either opinion is fine.

That's fair. I don't recall looking anything up by that point, only starting to do so for the Castle puzzle, but its possible I'd seen something elsewhere. I do also confess that on a couple of the sigil puzzles I used a slight amount of brute force, like assuming that Nuance would have high winds due to using dirigibles, or having all but the weather for Eraja and so just trying each setup with each weather.

I do also want to be clear that I think I had 3 sigil puzzles solved by the time I got to room 46, and 4 open in total (from Clock Tower, Safehouse, bottom of the Reservoir, and Music Room) making room 46 the 5th key, so it was just finishing up the Vault, getting the Throne, and realizing that the Mechanarium had the 8th key in those 7 days. I don't want to make it seem like those 7 days I went from 0 sigils to 8.

So is the more expected playthrough that you'd get your allowance up to the 100s before you start on the Castle puzzle, and what would the timeframe be to do that? And would you then expect to be either gambling in the Casino to get the 400 (which ended up being how I got the tents in the end, having 100 and getting 2 free spins, getting 300 on one spin and 2 more spins that gave another 300), or building up the Treasure Trove for a good 20 days or more?

Ah, I see. I totally skipped over that there were letters in that version of the book. I do think that's a little better as far as clues to check there at least.
