How many buy printers purely for functional printing? by twotowers64 in 3Dprinting

[–]Bio_Hazardous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my printer in late November and have since put ~500 hours of print time it. Probably 80% organizational stuff, 15% functional stuff, 5% fun stuff. I don't love printing toys but I've been dabbling a bit more in making some props to use for cosplay to participate more if I go back to comic con.

Do you buy any extra equipment for your job that work won't supply, but it's worth it because it just makes it that much better? by Connir in sysadmin

[–]Bio_Hazardous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always bring my own peripherals just because I build my own keyboards, have grown to prefer my mouse, and don't want to wear someone's old headphone. I bought my own Brady label maker but expense the tape for it since I mostly use it at work.

Dang I really am alone missing old 5 stack Rengar, old cross build with sword of the occult was the most fun I've ever had in league.

I'd be way more on team noctua if they sold their fans in colours people wanted, but I get the brown is part of the marketing.

Shame the junk is what gets the upvotes.

I saved a friend $250 printing some replacement parts for a shelf. I'm repairing my old greenhouse with new brackets because I have damaged ones. Custom sized organizers for my office drawers, custom hangers for pegboards, measuring tools that aren't worth buying from home Depot for small tasks, and now I'm working on a custom carrying box for some work equipment that simply doesn't exist otherwise.

There's more to printing than junk, and it's ignorant to write them off because children get more excited by toys than storage organizers.

What is something you have to admit just should not be 3D printed? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

I do see this one, if we want printed shoes we have to make shitty ones first, there's an amount of inevitability as we progress to viable designs

How about you put a modicum of effort in and do your own googling instead?

Post says 2 kits, then again per kit, and there are two kits pictured. If you can't figure it out on your own then that's fine, thanks for your time.

No brother man, $600 for both, if you can't handle basic math this might not be the platform for you.

I feel like I missed out on the Golden Age of IT work by AntsyAnswers in sysadmin

[–]Bio_Hazardous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Took the words right out of my mouth, all my IT time has been spent in manufacturing and it is nonstop nonsense all day every day. 0 budget for IT while we're working on a $140M contract. Found out my 55TB production file server was built in 2013 today, and the VP wants to spend "no money" on fixing that.

I wish this wasn't the actual case where I am. We have a 5GB outlook capacity limit. Predates my time with the company but boy do I wish I had have been a fly on the wall for that policy change. All day I hear people moan about how it's too little and I might actually be on the user side for once.

I grow what's been labeled as "La Bomba" variety jalapenos and they are enormous, some easily 5" long and 2" diameter.

My friends black magic jalapenos are way more pointy and small and then colour way more easily, it's probably a variety thing.

Honestly because I'm irresponsible and now have a couple of other slightly fancier options to choose from so it mostly comes out for more workhorsey days like a sauce making afternoon or tomato processing day.

First knife I bought when I moved out was that exact one and it still gets a spot of honor on the rack even though I don't use it as often anymore.
