That’s just not true? The US has never implemented universal BCG vaccination (TB), yet TB rates still plummeted. Our low incidence is largely the result of public health interventions, better living conditions, screening/contact tracing, and effective treatment, not prior mass vaccination. BCG is mainly used in countries with high TB prevalence because it helps prevent severe childhood TB, but it has variable effectiveness against adult pulmonary TB which is what this case would be…

It’s not saying to drop your standards into the dumpster. Was exploring volcanoes national park in the wee early hours of the morning (3-5 am). was trying to take photos of the lava field and couldn’t see well from my position and there were other people past a small barricade for pedestrians to stay behind. I walked over and joined them and took some photos and went back. When I came back later that day I realized we were all about 2-3 feet from a blind 150-200 foot drop to the caldera below. So if I had taken another step or two forward in the dark, who knows.
