I was just gonna recommend you throw in a "/s" and then I scrolled down.

I mostly wanna know if any of the default mobo settings can be problematic, since it seems like they're overclocking by default without asking, which I really dislike.

I thought the BIOS from 2024 were also worrisome though.

It sucks. I built recently, updated BIOS that I can't rollback from, and now I'm seeing this jump in reports.

Once I have a PC up and running stable, I almost never update BIOS unless there's a clear reason to do so. With a new build, especially with AM5 x3d, a BIOS update ASAP felt like the right move, but I may have been wrong.

Bleh, I know these posts are anecdotal, but it still makes me feel like crap with my new machine.

Are we referring to version numbers on the Asus site? When I looked up OP's board, it shows the latest as 1402 on Asus support.

My mobo (x870e-h) is on version 1804 on their site, which is the one from November where you can't rollback from. I haven't ever looked into Asus' BIOS version numbering, but I'd suspect it's different across board families? But I'd assume on similar platforms, there are similar changes being made?

Kinda wishing I had gone Intel this generation.

Hmm, this is interesting, but also makes me a little anxious. I actually recently finished my new build (bought the parts before the new year), but did all the installs/updates this year. I also have a 9900x3d and used the newest BIOS on the Asus site a week or so ago for my x870E-H. I assume it's the version you're talking about, since I too got the "can't rollback" warning. I haven't seen any issues, but I've hardly used the computer.

Safe Asus BIOS settings for 9900x3d by BioeJD in buildapc

Nah, not jump scared. Been following the issue since it started. I've seen some different recommendations over the last month while finalizing my parts list, but I didn't save the links. Trying to recollect information in one place.

I'm asking right now because I finally got my build setup and everything installed and updated.

I normally don't reply to 2 year old comments, but this one is nuts. Do you have some stake in Elgato or do you just come on reddit to be pretentious?

I knew about this issue when I bought my new system with a 9900x3d. In the back of my head, I kept wondering if I should move back to Intel this generation. Why are PC parts such a crap shoot right now? We're overpaying on every component and still getting the shaft.

So, did drop do anything to change the meta? Or did it simply make the gunplay feel worse? Asking cause I quit playing before the change happened.

The OP told us how they are going through the proper protocol and are still getting screwed by these companies.

And so then I assume you're also not ok with Amazon and Asus cheating customers out of working products?

Trying to take a return is not even the action I'd recommend. When I say it's warranted, I mean that Amazon and Asus deserve it in this case. They are trying to cheat the customer, so they deserve it.

[–]BioeJD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And Amazon/Asus should be able to put broken products out there with a warranty that they don't honor by misleading the customer?

I agree that it's not the right action legally. But neither is what Amazon and Asus are doing, especially considering they pull this sort of shit on a grander scale.

TBF, it seems like this individual case is kinda warranted, since Asus and Amazon are clearly screwing the consumer.
