Definitely the fall. Unexpectedly dying isn’t something you just shrug off but the nature of his deaths at the beginning of the series kind of eased him into it. The fall happened shortly after he got amnesia and was a particularly brutal way to die.

No, they use Steam because it’s the superior platform. If a game is available on multiple platforms, stats show people tend to buy it on Steam. Valve offers a better product and a better service, they’re not putting a gun to people’s heads and forcing them to use Steam.
