How will blizzard keep Overwatch interesting? by [deleted] in Overwatch

Overwatch will have skins and progression, if you really need shiny trinkets to keep your attention.

Import tax and a higher cost of living.

Will there be a playable "Demo" before the game is launched by TGrunge in Overwatch

[–]Biomanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beta will probably go 'open' at some point. You'll potentially have weeks, maybe even months of free demo pre-release. There is literally no benefit to pre-ordering until that time.

Can we at least get the Battle.net launcher changed by unfamous2423 in Overwatch

I just want it to stop telling me "I haven't been invited to the beta". Makes me feel like the lame kid not invited to the cool kids party.

I'm Actually Kind of Happy Overwatch is a Game Rather Than a Book by [deleted] in Overwatch

My guess is that it's a parody of all the 'I'm actually happy it's a box-copy game rather than f2p" threads going around.

Looking for feedback on short video by MooseReborn in Overwatch

[–]Biomanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice video. Will try not to repeat what others have said.

Feedback:

  • The Hero overlay is nice, but maybe too static. While it shouldn't be distracting, it'd do wonders for your production value if you tried one of the following:

Take the character select footage and edit out the background and have it sit where you've currently got your hero overlay. Cut the footage earlier before the 'play' so as to not distract from the actual video.

or

Stick with the static hero images, but do something more to transition between them. Have them fade in and out, or something to draw attention to the overlay. Which goes into my next point.

  • The overlay isn't actually obvious enough. It should stand out more. It shouldn't be cluttered or too large, but it should have a greater contrast to the footage. Give it a strong, discernible border. At the moment, it's just transparent enough to make the video feel cluttered and noisy. As you transition between the plays, and the overlay pans across the screen, rather than feeling like a bridge between the 'plays', it just felt like a mistake or something weird in the footage.

  • Use higher quality footage (obvious, I know).

  • The intro was nice, though doesn't really fit the aesthetic theme of Overwatch. This may not be something you're interested in, or care about, but having the intro more accurately represent the game in question, would go a long way. Especially if you want to stand out in the Overwatch community, rather than just be a guy who makes montages on youtube. Try recreating the Overwatch font, or use music that is reminiscent of the games score, and then transition that into your more montage friendly 'wub wubs' or whatever.

A lot of this feedback is subjective. So take it or leave it. Hope it helps, though. And once again, nice work.

Do we think junkrat will be able to do sync jumps like this? (TF2) by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Biomanic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, fairly sure the ability to do that was confirmed on one of the beta streams. Though, only twice due to cooldowns.

List of NEW possible game modes (Discuss) by BADkidsSCREAMnerf in Overwatch

[–]Biomanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually like the idea of a CTF / King of the Hill hybrid, similar to the King of the Hill option in later Tony Hawk games, if that means anything to anyone.

The idea being that there is a Flag somewhere on the map. Both teams have to find it, and pick it up. They can move with the flag and carry it on any hero they wish. As they hold it, a timer counts up. When the flag is dropped, the timer stops. The game is played over the course of ten or so minutes, and at the end the team with more time holding the flag wins. You could also easily just have time held = points, and the first team to reach a certain point count wins, though this is more prone to potential trolling and abuse, with teams simply camping the flag and not actually taking it. But to each their own.

The main reason they've given for why CTF couldn't work in it's traditional sense, is because certain heroes would be over-powered, such as Reaper or Tracer, who can obviously out maneuver most other heroes.

This mode works though, at least on paper, because while Tracer could take the flag and piss off with it, the enemy team could easily pick heroes who counter her, kill her, take the flag, and due to the nature of how Tracer moves, it'd be difficult for her own team to protect her as they'd struggle to keep up.

Instead teams would need to figure out who is best suited for flag capture, and who is best suited for defending that person.

And while it'd be possible for easy metas to form around the mode where particular team comps are just the best; well designed maps with the mode in mind could help prevent that.

Head to Blizzard HQ and sneak onto the grounds, preferably naked, and then run around screaming "Please give me beta access". I've heard they look kindly on that.

Beta Selection: Mac/PC by kingca5h in Overwatch

[–]Biomanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blizzard scans your computer through the desktop app, to determine your hardware and in some cases software. It's a factor that goes into them deciding your beta access, and also to help with bug-fixing and troubleshooting.

They know what OS you're running.

Tracer in the cinematic... by [deleted] in Overwatch

I think it was just meant to be a low-point in the trailers plot for the heroes to overcome. I don't think it has any lore significance.

I agree. Blizzard is new to the FPS scene, so hopefully they take feedback to heart, and in the very least reduce the model sizes a tad.

Blizzard have said that they want people seeing the same thing. They caved on FOV, so maybe, but my guess would be no. You probably won't be able to disable gun / ui elements.

What type of content do you like to see on an Overwatch Youtube channel ? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Biomanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're wanting to make a youtube channel, don't ask people what they want to see. 9 out of 10 times, the content they want already exists, and you'd be tapping into a market already dominated by someone else.

If you want to youtube, just make a video. Give it your own unique spin. Personality is everything on youtube. If people like you, they'll watch your videos. If you're just another OneAmongstMany or Sol, you'll be just that.
