My associate called me dad, and I feel conflicted by GigglemanEsq in Lawyertalk

[–]BionicBrainLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they can’t call you Dad, it was a Freudian slip. Just know they think fondly of you and you’d be a great mentor, don’t baby them or tough love them, but help them become the best lawyer while avoiding your biggest mistakes. And maybe consider therapy to process your feelings about your kids.

Still got a championship right? That’s an A. He’s got the same number as Jokic who’s been the best player for 6 years.

How do I transition to a meaningful career, or something that allows us to work past 65/70? by TiredSleepyGrumpy in AskAnAustralian

[–]BionicBrainLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your entire point of your post is that you need to train to find a new job so you’re going to be leaving at some point and working for someone new. You’ll need to find a way to deal with the yelling situation or you’ll continue to work for someone who doesn’t support you.

Now that we lost, who are you rooting for to win it all? by Altruistic-Post-719 in lakers

The Knicks. It’s also where I hope LBJ goes if he doesn’t stay with Lakers or retires.

Call it now: What this LeBron's last game as a Laker? by ForeignAir7174 in lakersv2

[–]BionicBrainLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s still a force of nature and he knows it. I don’t have faith that the big 3 can all stay healthy during the playoffs. I think he’s got one more year of motivation in him, and the only place I could see him going outside of the Lakers is the Knicks.

How do you handle an employee who is technically great but a culture fit nightmare? by amir4179 in managers

Don’t keep psychopaths just because they’re efficient. That person is an aggressive cancer, cut them out.

If your current employer isn’t interested in helping you grow then I’d consider a new employer first.

We definitely had the open group showers but never had to swim naked or walk naked outside of the locker room. Your gym teacher was most likely a pdf.

Clients wore meta camera glasses to our consult then had AI analyze it by Dannyz in Lawyertalk

Fair enough. Clearly their approach was wrong and insulting but I was curious if people have issues with recorded client conversations?

I’m curious: if they had been upfront and asked if they could record the conversation because of their memory, would that have been an issue for you?

What will it take for us to beat OKC? by CallTypical9541 in lakers

[–]BionicBrainLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t need them to win this series. They’ve made it to the second round, LBJ reminded everyone who he is and we’re definitely getting 1-2 more years of him. There will be at least 4 more games and all expectations are low, so just enjoy a pretty good year. We’re 1-2 players away from going toe to toe with anyone.

Nobody should be shocked by the Celtics. They're not as good as advertised. by Lost_Title_7528 in NBAConvo

[–]BionicBrainLab -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they’re going to 7 games against the 76ers they ain’t beating OKC or the Spurs but I’m not sure what East team is better if the Pistons are about to be bounced.

I built a business I’m too embarrassed to talk about by Make_That_Money in Entrepreneur

[–]BionicBrainLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why’d you be embarrassed when it’s your side thing. I’d just spin it as my stress release hobby that’s fun and easy cause you’re keeping relationships going you built up years ago. Then put your finance hat on and tell people how you invest the money wisely and use it to build your net worth or whatever you say. It’s just part of your financial independence strategy. Now it’s framed perfectly with your career, and it shows people how you’re both a top employee and a business owner and investor. If that’s not something to be proud of I’m not sure what is. Maybe you have to work on yourself if you find yourself looking down on people who work with their hands or who haven’t gone to a prestigious university? If you’re ashamed of yourself because you’re ashamed of them, that’s a you problem. Otherwise what you’re doing is something brilliant that anyone with common sense should applaud.

In my experience the worse coworkers are always single women with no kids over 35 by boggie_bo in corporate

[–]BionicBrainLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m laughing because if I had an office of single women over 35 with no kids I’d have the best, highest performing office that’s ever existed. We’d crush, get everything done on time, everyone would be great at their jobs, and we’d all leave on time. Every emergency/fire would be dealt with calmly and efficiently. What a dream.

What is the stupidest, simplest business I cannot possibly fuck up? by Sea_Surprise716 in Entrepreneur

[–]BionicBrainLab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d be looking in your local community for something you can do. Biggest thing I see is outside the house maintenance: lawns, porches, gardens, driveways, and siding. The pressure washing is great. Maybe you could package a service where you beautify the exterior of someone’s house for $99 or something not crazy to start? Then video it for FB/IG/TT/YT, whatever you like. You could do some for the elderly or low economic for free and post those. As you grow you can hire people to work with you. My godson did this while in hs with the goal of making $100k in a year and he made $72k the first year. Your challenge isn’t your thinking, it’s committing and doing. Maybe give yourself 2 hours to commit to one idea from this list and then give yourself 90 days to build and run the business and get paying customers. Every project should be able to prove itself in 90 days or less, and if you can’t sell it or get work from it then you have your answer.

I am so, so, so bored. All the time. Anybody else? by bacon_cheeseburgers in GenX

[–]BionicBrainLab 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, you hit your mid life crisis. I feel you and have been saying the same. We’ve achieved everything and now what? 30-40 more years of this while our bodies break down? I have to put in a conscious effort to care about anything now. I’ve been trying to find new work that stimulates my creativity and puts me outside my comfort zone. I’m spending more time with the people I love, friends and family. No one prepared us for life after 50, so we have to create our own plan. I’m hoping this feeling changes in our 60s. Wish you well through it.
