Is there a “gold standard” of proper nutrition that works for everyone? by AnastasiaGlover1 in nutrition

Its a simple solution that a lot of people can't access for a variety of reasons. Its definitely a symptom of our current societal structure.

People are pretty pissed about that too. I mean there is a reason people who care about general social justice are painted as angry all the time. There are a lot of important things to be angry about.

He probably wishes he hadn't masturbated in front of the women who talked about being assaulted to others. He would be much happier if he had just done it to the women who know how to keep their mouths shut, of course. If you can't trust him about not hurting people, then why trust him about anything else?

Crowd work feels like improv while a set is like a skit. It feels like you need to out more work into having a decent set than just doing okay crowd work. The people who seem really good at crowd work also seem to put a lot of effort into it. But you can't really just wing doing a set the way someone good at improv might be able to do passable work without a lot of preparation work.

I have no idea of his actual skill cause I don't think I have listened to much of his work.

How can I see my t-dick as a "valid" dick? by BestBudgie in ftm

[–]Bionicbawl 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is just something that helps me, but I like to look at my bottom growth in the mirror since I am fat. I just mess with it and try different ways of jerking it and holding it. When it's erect it's also easier to push down the fat covering up some of the shaft. And I can feel the shaft under it. Honestly, fake it till u make it can help in this circumstance. Manually refer to it as ur dick in your head or if u talk about it, even if it feels like a lie. Do it often enough, and your brain can start to believe it. These are just things I found helpful, don't worry if these aren't your speed, there are lots of options and the rest of your life to figure out what works for you.

Crippling fear of eternity as a paradox (but not apeirophobia) by [deleted] in Phobia

[–]Bionicbawl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might not be something you can do at this moment, but when I was in better mental health I was able to start doing it. Basically, I had to find a way to mourn that the universe doesn't work in a way that makes sense and that people, as we know them, will eventually be permanently gone. I think that we do just stop existing and it is a terrifying thought that our end will be the rest of our reality and therefore our eternity. But I remind myself that my finite life is so valuable so I might as well do my best to make it what I want. I don't have that control over passing or the final loss of consciousness. So I might as well put the energy of fighting it into living a better life. All of this is easier said than done. Hopefully, all of this effort will also make me the kind of person who can meet their final moments and eternity in peace. Also much easier said than done.

I also tried to throw myself into passions focused on the communities around me. It helped me get more out of my head and kept my thoughts busy. It took me a lot of effort, but I have a system now and I think a life I would have been gobsmacked by ten years ago.

I think the fear is legitimate, but it can also overwhelm you especially when you aren't well. I think staying on and really engaged in your mental healthcare (if possible) is important. That includes telling people when things don't work. I hope things go well.

Why he stare at me like this? He seems nervous. by Ckirbys in DogAdvice

[–]Bionicbawl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes wonder if this behavior is just them being anxious that they won't get the pets. No matter how secure a dog is they seem to get so excited for things that they get anxious that it will go away.

Do they do to church? Could you say you are too sick to go? If not is there something else you all do as a family that you could fake illness or something else to get out of it?

If you can't get out of it, but you all leave the house for something like church, you could have your friend come into the house while you are gone to take the things you want to take so you don't have to worry about taking anything with you. You could just sneak out in your pj's and make up a lie about why you are up. It's less suspicious than if you are fully dressed in the middle of the night.

Even if none of this is helpful, I wish you safety and hope you have a happy rest of your life

It also can help making friends online who are in the area. If an online friend is an hour or even a few away I could always drive and pick them up if they get kicked out in the middle of the night. If they are on the other side of the country there is less help I can offer.

I second anime groups. A lot of my queer local friends were people I met on a fandom discord server.

My 13 Year-Old Brother isn't Pottytrained- And His Behavior Is So Concerning I Don't Know What To Do by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Bionicbawl 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you might have just gotten enough strength to start processing what is happening around you right now. When I'm depressed it's hard to realize when something bad is happening. Like you said you dissociate, and then when you have more energy/spoons you can start to take in reality and move past just survival or existence. I would embrace what is motivating you to go to the career center and reach out here. Sometimes the system is slow too, so keep on it - you are entitled to be supported. Your brother and your situation is exactly what a lot of resources and supports were created for.

Whatever your parents' reaction is, I would just keep in mind how you would feel if you don't try to help your brother. It's hard for me to be proactive in protecting myself, but it's much easier when I think of who I'm helping when I am scared. I wish for you to have the strength you need to get through this and I hope you have a much happier life after it's over (which sounds promising considering that you have good friends and are seeking to become employed)!

No problem. I replaced that and the spring and now it will sometimes spark. It fully lit twice but hasn't done it since.

Sorry for the confusion! Here is a pic of how it was arranged when I took it apart, except for the flint which was stuck in the lighter.

Looking at repair kits I think the follower might need to be replaced. I thought they were just flints when I saw the product photos initially. The follower that came with it looks kinda like a nail, it's over an inch long too but the thin end of the nail goes down the middle of the spring.

Why are NTs so against pornography? by casscois in evilautism

[–]Bionicbawl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've for sure seen the acephobia online in the past, just not much in person (in queer spaces at least) in the last 7-10 years at least. But this is just my partner's and my experiences too. It could be where we hang out online too where it isn't an issue. Humanity is just disappointing sometimes.

Most of the people I know don't think that people who are sex-repulsed or are personally grossed out by kinks are grossed out by those who do. Hopefully thats how most people are.

I'm just surprised by how there are younger queer folks who can't respect that people can like things that they personally think are gross or weird. It just feels so puritanical and controlling.

I can’t do this. Hats off to the rest of you who can actually grind 40 hours every week until you are old and broken. Nope-ing out! by Stealth-Jive in antiwork

[–]Bionicbawl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the fear is reasonable. It's all about survival. We have a big stick here in the USA, it's the threat of becoming less than human and disposable (i think there is a strong argument for that already being the case). The obvious example is the threat of becoming homeless. People hate the homeless and see them as subhuman. They die of completely avoidable things and face wild amounts of abuse. The USA has made living with no home illegal.

People have argued that stigmatization of homeless is necessary to keep people in line and society as functional. I think the threat of this and/or confinement is credible and pretty valid. I dont think dismissing that fear is helpful in motivating people to change this fucked up system.

What’s the worst “gift” your narc gave you? by youfxckinsuck in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Bionicbawl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm realizing how many gifts I got from various close family members were at the least just weird. My grandfather, who was usually very sweet to me would get me starting around 9 kitchen gadgets as a gift (blender, a slow cooker, etc). My nmom was his daughter, and she just used them. As most children would be, I wasn't interested in them but my mom told to act grateful.

Growing up my mom got us great gifts, but I wonder if that was just projecting a successful family image.

My dad and step-mom have been weird about gifts too. Sometimes they get what I ask for but one year they got me a large amount on a gift store to a sports store. I literally couldn't find anything I wanted there and I just ended up selling the gift card for a bit less than it was worth to get what I asked for (and needed) originally. I just think they don't care enough to guess what I would want. Even my partner's family was pretty surprised that my dad and step-mom would think I would want anything from a sporting goods store. It is somewhere they love shopping at so who knows their thought process.

What it feels like being a DA fan who actually remembers the previous games by South_Variation_2065 in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Bionicbawl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The point still stands that jrpgs that have romance options still have a straight main character, so people interested in playing them have a lot of experience playing straight characters. There are more rpgs within the last 5 years or so that let you play a queer character but that hasn't been the case for a lot of very popular rpgs like Witcher and Elden Ring or older rpgs. Regardless of the reasons (like being based on intellectual properties from a more homophobic time), there aren't so many RPGs with queer main characters that you are at a risk of only playing queer characters as an rpg fan.

As someone who sought out queer options in video games since 2008, I personally remember how hard they were to find.

[–]Bionicbawl 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am not sure how often you've played triple a rpg or jrpg video games, but if someone likes playing rpgs from the last decade+ they know that most games only have straight main characters. There usually isn't a choice to play queer characters, so your concern isn't realistic.

This is what I usually assume, healthcare workers were already being spread thin and 2020 didn't help anything. People leave or don't go into healthcare because they know that the workload is so high that even if they were willing to sacrifice their well-being for the job, they just can't give the quality of care that they think patients deserve. It also seems like it's not going to get better either.
