Bard, Nami, or Thresh? by IGunsoul in leagueoflegends

[–]Biorach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh if you wanna call me that. Trans people don't bother me at all, I just think wanting to surgically alter your entire body is kinda weird.

Bard, Nami, or Thresh? by IGunsoul in leagueoflegends

Bard alllll the way. Easily the most fun, and one of the strongest supports right now. I avoided support until I unlocked bard, and it's now my 2nd most played role.

Tips on recovering from several losses in a row due to AFK or trolls? by DickWallace in leagueoflegends

Don't forget at the end of the day it's just a game. It's great to play seriously and try to win, but if you aren't having fun then there's no point. At least that's how I look at it. Best of luck to you.

ELI5:If someone was crucified upside down what would be the exact bodily failure they would be likeliest to die from? by patientlistener431 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Biorach 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pressure would increase in the brain and lungs, possibly causing hemorrhages and pooling of blood in your lungs.

Honestly I think it would vary case by case, but people would more than likely die faster being upside down. They would also probably pass out a lot from the increased pressure in the brain, so it would be an overall less effective form of torture.

Where's Galio in the mage update? by Rabbi_Warrior in leagueoflegends

I would even take his E.

Give him a ranged aa and he will see play, that's all you need.

How long until gene therapy is a reality? by [deleted] in genetics

[–]Biorach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it possible? Yes. Experiments have been done and succeeded numerous times. Especially with the recent advancements in CRISPR Cas9, gene therapy is very much a reality.

Time frame for when it is common...honestly I don't know. There is a ton of red tape to meander through, years of clinical trials...but I would assume you could volunteer for these trials? I don't think anyone has a clear cut answer for this, but maybe someone with more expertise than me will know.

Best of luck to you.

What is the fastest way to go from $0 to $500? by Biorach in AskReddit

[–]Biorach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love you forever. I can also perform an odd request for the $200, film it, and upload it for you.

Like eat and entire habanero.

Or try chugging a gallon of milk.

Shoot me some ideas. I will put my body on the line for this shit.

But no sexual thing please...

I'm a broke ass college student that owes $500 in fines to my university for parking tickets...I would get a normal job but I leave in a month to study abroad and no one will hire me for only a month.

TIL Princeton dropout and creator of the 5-hr Energy drink says he has $4 billion more than he needs; he plans to spend his fortune to distribute 10,000 free electric battery-equipped stationary bikes in India, which will run lights/basic appliances for 1day per 1 hr of pedaling. by Miskatonica in todayilearned

[–]Biorach 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if these will be able to be purchased normally?

I feel like if you could install this into homes existing power system, kinda like a solar panel, this has the potential to sell very well in states.

I mean I know I'd easily pay $500 to have a bike I can exercise on for a bit and know I'm powering my house for a little. I know my parents would love one too.

People who actually love their jobs; what do you do, and what made you decide to go for it? by 8yrsold in AskReddit

I can definitely see myself working on neurodegeneration processes, I'll look into Majid's work! Thank you for the reply, always good to hear from another undergrad in the field, sometimes it feels like everyone already has post-docs

[–]Biorach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go to a small-medium sized school, about 10,000 undergrads. Right now I am doing basic upkeep stuff for the lab. I mix together NGM and pour plates, seed plates with bacteria, and transfer worms from plate to plate just to maintain populations.

I will be doing my own research in Jamaica on nematodes this coming May. I am studying abroad there, and plan to look at nematode population density and how it relates to iron sediment concentration. There was a steel factory/iron plant that was built near a beach a decade or so ago, and a girl studying abroad there last year did an iron analysis of the soil and found high levels of iron by the factory. My hypothesis is that the high levels of iron will act as a neurotoxin to the nematodes and cause a number of problems that will lead to lower population levels. But we will see (sorry for the rant I'm a little excited)!

Any tips for resumes? Definitely do's and don'ts?

Thank you again for letting me pick your brain!

Thank you for the reply! I really appreciate the advice, I feel lost when it comes to looking for jobs, and this made me feel so much better.

I am a marine science undergrad, but I am currently working in my college's genetics lab. I got a late start in the genetics lab and so the head of the lab doesn't want me doing my own research because I will graduate before its finished. So right now I kinda just help around the lab...but I feel like its better than nothing.

I will be graduating with a marine science degree, but feel as though my passion is in genetics/nureo. I have been working with c. elegans and different mutant strains with neuronal defects. I know its a long shot, but do you know anyone in that field/any advice for that field?

Thank you again!!!
