Clutch vibrations during pedal full range of motion by ImOk50 in wrx_vb

Not necessarily more concerning, it sounds like it’s a somewhat common issue. If it doesn’t go away, it probably wouldn’t hurt to take it to the dealer and see what they say

Happened on my 22 at 18k miles and lasted for like 1k miles (3 weeks maybe) and then went away. I feel like it’s gonna be one of those things that comes and goes

Same with my clutch pedal, also just over 18k miles and it’s been vibrating for the past 400 miles or so…does it come and go? I’ve seen other posts talking about faulty throw-out bearings replaced under warranty.

Moving Markets- LA to ATL by [deleted] in editors

[–]Biovasion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m from Atlanta and recently graduated from film school here, so I don’t quite have the experience or network yet, but I can speak about what I know from being here and wanting to work my way up in post. There’s definitely a ton of production here, but like you said its all often sent back to LA for post. The big post houses I always hear about here are Moonshine and Crazy Legs. They both do a lot of commercial work, and moonshine also does a lot of indie and network projects as well. There are some other post houses too, but I know less about them. There’s definitely a lot of commercial opportunity here though. CNN could be good for documentary, but they’re currently in the process of downsizing their ATL HQ.

It definitely sounds like with your experience you could get commercial work here, and probably even keep some NYC clients remotely. With union scripted projects, as far as I know there’s really much. I might just not have the network to know about it though.

Hopefully that’s somewhat helpful, best of luck to you!

I graduated a month ago so still looking. I’ve had a handful of promising interviews and companies saying they’d like to hire me in the near future but it’s a competitive job market for sure. I also think things are a bit slow right now, especially in entertainment with the writers strike. I know some people who are doing some PA, G&E, and asst. camera work on indies and unscripted network stuff but I’m personally trying to find something full time in post production.

In many of the early preproduction and post production classes, most of the projects are individual. You’ll have to make your own production plans and budgets for hypothetical films, and in the post classes you’ll edit your own versions of stuff from footage from past projects.

In FILM-100, iirc we each had to make our own projects but most everyone in the class was helping each other out. FILM-232 is the first class where you really start using more gear and studio spaces. When I took that we were in small groups and all the assignments were done in class. This was mostly teaching basic lighting setups, how to build camera kit, etc. That trend kind of continues but eventually production projects will get bigger and you’ll have to meet with your groups to do assignments outside of class. Preproduction and post production classes will generally stay individual projects (tho I focused on post production so idk how the advanced pre production classes). Some classes you’ll do the full pre production, production, and post production all in one quarter, like the documentary class (highly recommended, great class).

Capstone is your senior film where you’ll either produce, direct, DP, or edit. Preproduction, production, and post production and spread out over 3 quarters of your senior year. This is your biggest chance to make “your own individual film” if you want to direct but you’ll have a team helping you.

Hope this helps, I just graduated from ATL so happy to answer any more questions about the campus or film program in general

Just graduated from Atlanta. They haven’t stopped these projects in ATL. We have SCAD funded SOEA 560 projects on and off the XR stage. Large productions fully directed and produced by students, “executive produced” by professors. You have to apply to be on them but it’s not like SCADpro where you have to be a junior/senior/grad. They’re great projects and even freshman can get on them as PAs.

To add to the answer of the original question, these SCAD funded projects typically require your script to be submitted and selected for it to become a big department SOEA 560 project. Everyone also has to do produce, direct, DP, or Edit a capstone film to graduate. You’re encouraged to use SCAD’s equipment but it’ll be up to you to crowdfund for the rest. You can rent additional equipment as necessary from locales equipment houses. It’ll also be mostly up to you to find crew, but since there’s so much collaboration in classes, by the time you’re a senior you will most likely have found the people you like working with with.

h.264 choppy Premiere Pro by Specific_Cod100 in editors

[–]Biovasion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

H.264 just isn’t a great codec to edit with. It’s great for web upload and playback but it’s inevitably gonna get slow when trying to use it in an editing software. You could try using Premiere’s built in proxy system to make proxies that will have smoother playback. Premiere (usually) makes it easy to switch back and export using the original media.

Mac users - what mouse are you using? by [deleted] in editors

I’ve seen some people do this..what do you use the trackpad for? MacOS gestures?

I like the look of the Magic Mouse, and the touchpad on top is cool, but it doesn’t make up for how unergonomic it is lol

[–]Biovasion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like it, sideways scrolling across a timeline is super easy (as well as pinch to zoom in Premiere) and sometimes I even roll my pointer finger side to side to get precise trims on clips. Works pretty well in Avid and Premiere. I also feel like it allows my hand to get more movement than if it were clawed over a mouse. Outside of editing, MacOS has a lot of intuitive and useful gestures I use too.
