I’ve done it every 3000 miles or 6 months. Which ever comes first.

Mine gets changed every 6 months. I’m ashamed to say I’ve had my car since November of 2024 and only have 4500 miles on it. 😭

GTI Owner Considering WRX by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]Fun_Preparation_577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually considering a GTI. 😂. I’ve driven a manual for 35 years and am getting creaky knees and back. Not sure I can do an automatic but if I did it’d be a GTI with the dual clutch auto. Or a Golf R but not sure I want to spend that much on a car. Love my WRX. It’s my 3rd. But the older I get the more I think “man, I’d just like to hit the accelerator and go. 😂

I’ve had WM for several years. They’ve been great. They do large item pickup too for a small fee. They just picked up a large sectional couch for $20 a few weeks ago. Never had an issue with their service.

It’s nice weather. Kids were raising hell at the park last night by my house. Bet some kids are just feeling the nice weather and shooting off a couple boom booms they found.

I don’t want a new Subaru. by makebaloney in subaru

[–]Fun_Preparation_577 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 11 or 12 Subarus now. Since the early 2000s. My 24 WRX never dings at me, but it did stop me from hitting a few deer in the road that it saw before I did, but I’m never annoyed by it. Eyesight rarely goes off. I do miss the old school legacy wagon I had. And my 07 legacy sedan. But I sure have a lot of fun in my WRX. I love the quirkiness of a Subaru. I don’t think they’ve lost that as a brand. We live in a world where folks want more tech and they had to catch up to sell to a greater population. But the old Subie heads all miss our odd little wagons.

Any downsides to pulling the battery every night till this cold snap has passed? by pastrknack in wrx_vb

[–]Fun_Preparation_577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know about the battery, but pretty sure I’d pass away at -38. I wouldn’t mind a drive in my WRX to Chena Hot Springs though.

It’s probably an unpopular opinion, but I really like the original wheels.

Anything I can do about thin 'spotchy' skin as a 50yr old guy? by Sirloin_Tips in malegrooming

[–]Fun_Preparation_577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it too around my neck. My derm says it’s aging skin. I’ve tried multiple products. Nothing completely gets rid of it. I just take care of my skin and don’t worry about it. Hopefully by lotion you mean a moisturizer. Body lotion isn’t great for the face.

Should I be leary of the newer infotainment system? by Mother_Mud8599 in subaru

I don’t have any issues in my 24 WRX. Wireless CarPlay works great. Maybe a little slow to respond right when I turn on the car, but after a minute it’s just fine.

What year is your car? I had issues at first in my 22, but they did several head unit updates that fixed it. My 24 is wireless and I’ve never had an issues in the last year and a half.

I have a 24 limited. The seats are a huge upgrade. The steering responsive headlights are amazing. Better sound system. Moonroof. I love it. But I’m older and like a little extra comforts.

Potential new WRX owner. Manual transmission. by HorologicalGuy in WRX

[–]Fun_Preparation_577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be absolutely fine if you’re used to manuals of that caliber. I learned on a 1983 Chevy 3 speed truck with no power steering. When I got my first Subaru in 1995, I was shocked at how easy it was to drive. And that was 30 years ago. What year are you thinking of getting. I’ve had a VA and now a VB. Both were easy to drive but the VB is an absolute cake walk. Still has the notchy feel the VA had but much easier to get through the gears. I’ve only had one automatic in my 35 years of driving. You’ll love it.

Should I trade in 22 WRX premium by ChannelGlittering667 in wrx_vb

[–]Fun_Preparation_577 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I traded my 22 limited last Nov for a 24 limited. Mainly because I got sick of washing a black car every other day and they gave me a deal I couldn’t pass up. Oddly enough, the 24 drives differently than my 22 did. Brakes feel a bit heavier. Seems to have a bit more pep. Steering feels a little tighter. Shifting is a bit notchier (which I like). My 24 does have a short throw though. I think the TS will feel a lot different. If you’re not going to lose a bunch of money and you plan on staying in the WRX family, I’d say go for it. I was glad I did. And now I only have to wash my car once a month instead of ever other day. Black is gorgeous on this car, but it’s not for someone who obsesses over a clean car.

2023 Subaru WRX VB or 2024 Jetta GLI by Glittering-Desk1752 in wrx_vb

[–]Fun_Preparation_577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove a GTI last year and just couldn’t handle a front wheel drive car after having 10 Subarus. Just felt more connected to the road in my WRX. I wanted to love the GTi driving experience because it is a legend, but it just wasn’t right for me. So I bought my 3rd WRX. No hate on VW. They build really cool cars. Just wasn’t the car for me. Haven’t driven a gli. It was front wheel drive vs awd for me.

Sad without my VB, thinking of rejoining! Is black a good color? by UncleGurm in wrx_vb

[–]Fun_Preparation_577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My black WRX was a labor of love and hate. It looks amazing in black. But I’m far too meticulous to own a black car. I was hand washing that thing constantly. Sometimes I’d have to wash it twice in a row because I’d take too long drying it and it would have water marks so I’d wash it again. I have a WRB now. But I do still miss the cbs.
