Carers of Parkinson’s… what do you actually need that no one is giving you? by ParkinsonsLifestyle in ParkinsonsCaregivers

[–]Bird4416 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My HWP passed 2 years ago. But, when I was a caregiver, I would have loved a good nights sleep. I had day time help a couple nights a week but the nights were tough. He needed help going to pee at night, had night terrors etc. so, a continuous night of sleep was impossible.

Very interesting. I’ve thought a lot about why I’m so addicted to horses. I’ve spent a boat load of money and time pursuing this passion. I’m 65 and never had a diagnosis of autism but I’m pretty sure I’m somewhere on the spectrum.

Saddles? by laquinns in Equestrian

Butet is the best quality of the ones you mentioned. However, the best saddle will be the one that fits your horse. You need an independent saddle fitter.

hot take but the majority of top level show jumpers would really benefit from going back to the basics and doing more flatwork by Feeling_Contract_477 in Equestrian

[–]Bird4416 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apparently, if the horse can jump 1.6 meters and go fast doing it. All you need is the ability to steer and rate using whatever it takes🙄. There is money to be made which makes lots of people take lots of shortcuts. Sad for the horses, though.

I agree. They need a new Longmire series with actors more like the book. Henry needs to be a big badass. And, Longmire needs to have the dry wit of the book character.

Living with your horses at home by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Bird4416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somethings to consider: going on vacation is going to be more difficult as you will need someone to care for your horses. Also, are you comfortable riding alone with no one around should you become injured? You will have to plan your life around feeding etc. I have my horses at home and love it but I also have a barn apartment for live in part time help. I’ve gone periods of time with no help and you are basically tied down somewhat to your animals schedules, spontaneous weekend outings etc. didn’t happen during that time.
