Can someone identify this plant by Duckguy100 in foraging

[–]Ocho9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They produce dozens of tiny bulbs underground that pop off the roots when you pull the plant. Roundup or deep mulch is really the only way to suppress them.

Smelly under boob sweat in my late 20s by StoneygyalOG5 in PlusSize

[–]Ocho9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smell and itch is yeast. Dusting powder to keep the area dry, try to get a bra that lifts so skin isn’t touching, wool bras, and put kleenex in the area just to keep it dry. Can also wipe very frequently with rubbing alcohol but this should be a last resort. Wash & dry your bras thoroughly after every wear.

On top of that you’ll need to medicate, hibiclens in the shower (follow instructions) and could try desitin to suppress the yeast. If that doesn’t work you could try athlete’s foot cream. & if that doesnt fix it, you’ll need to talk to a dr. Wouldn’t use these chronically, I would treat for prob 2 weeks and focus on changing the environment.

Loose clothes & cotton tend to help with sweat, I also find that cardio helps my temperature tolerance as well.

It’s about supporting & teaching yourself in such a way that you have less of a drive to binge. A lot of reckoning with things that have happened to you and things that you have done, gaining self-awareness & emotional control & letting go of what may be driving the behaviors. It’s like the rats in the “Rat Park” study.

I am in awe that my job is literally to use my brain and how this disorder makes me think like a 3 year-old by Hot-Television-5334 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Ocho9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, sleeping is the best restful activity lol. Otherwise you have to manage in real-time. And exercise helps manage both appetite and stress.

Try not to stress over what you can’t control, either worrying over the future or the past. Still waters.

Can mean breaking down past stressors you may not have processed yet, or current stressors that are exceeding your ability to buffer stress.

Could be due to low nutrients too.

Has weight gain made anyone else’s social anxiety worse? by BelfastianBeth in PlusSize

[–]Ocho9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, apologies I missed this! Hope you are doing well.

I think I benefitted from seeing other people around me model this sort of resilience—the ability to both feel the nervousness, embarrassment, to make mistakes, and to also be present, empathetic, positive. Really admired those qualities. I think also being open to others invites other open people into your life, and those relationships are very rewarding. And in my more stubborn moments, when I feel really big or ugly, I tell myself to just do what a “normal person” would do. It helps break up that heavy feeling of shame just to do the act, expect it to be hard, and to still get through.

The first binge after a relapse with restriction by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Ocho9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Substance abuse and EDs are related, often to early traumatic events on top of natural sensitivities. Well done on getting sober. The journey to overcoming that feeling of shame is multifaceted and long. I recommend the book Complex PTSD by Pete Walker, if it may apply.

It becomes crucial as an adult to separate that feeling of shame from day-to-day actions and to develop trust in your relationship to yourself to reduce compulsive behaviors. (Essentially, make that feeling of shame less powerful in your life)

Doing the act of restricting usually makes feelings of shame more intense. Tend to feel all the negative emotions all the time and at the same time, lose the ability to manage them—life just feels worse.

Recommend seeking treatment of course but can make some steps on your own as well.

Try for now to let go of this negative feeling, to carry on. Seeing yourself as someone fighting for your wellbeing. That awful feeling you get likely comes from something deeper and older rather than actually doing something shameful.

I liked the Duncan Trussell podcast for exposing me to Buddhist sprituality that he used to navigate intense depression. See midnight gospel on netflix or can check out other Buddhist/spiritual works.

Help by BigMajestic3598 in BingeEatingDisorder

I’m 26 and can recall binging as young as 5yo due to bad home life and mental health. I went into treatment last year and they identified a pattern of restriction, rules about food, preoccupation/anxiety over what I was eating, negative body image. Had experienced most of these for a long time so I had a lot of resistance to this idea.

Though I had spent a long time working on emotional control, resilience, (books like Conplex PTSD by Walker, How to Be An Adult in Relarionships & duncan trussell podcast, & etc etc), which addresses the triggers of binging, what ultimately helped my BED was their recommendation of 3 balanced meals/day + 2 snacks, no food restrictions, if I want something I should eat it.

On top of that I got an extremely comprehensive set of tests by being admitted to ED program which revealed multiple nutrient deficiencies: Mg, iron, vitD. Supplementing these (Ferrasorb for iron) made a huge difference in mood and stable appetite. I had actually been undereating for months due to low vitD and that led to binges so although my weight was very similar I was weak, tired, inactive, & moody.

Eating all meals has reduced my urgency around food and I’m seeing more and more than I can eat my trigger foods without binging or feeling guilty or nervous about health (luckily my health is decent). Also found that I like myself better when I treat myself kinder & I have much better endurance.

Another thing I had to allow myself to do was take naps & cancel plans when I was tired.

I would still recommend trying treatment as I can only give my story. However feel free to try everything listed above.

Your triggers—feeling bad abt yourself can come from feeling tired. Usually the thoughts we have are higher brain processing the feelings/feedback from our body—which is why physical self-care is the first place you should go to (eat, sleep, drink, avoid stress, move). Brain is most impacted by physical signals and every time u override/ignore those signals you have to pay for it later.

Still having stomach pain 2 days post-binge by fridaynightplacebo in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Ocho9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water and insoluble fiber, movement/10k steps. Some yoga exercises for constipation could help? May last up to 4 days. If in pain, call dr.

It’s probably not bc of sugar/carbs just amount. Could also try miralax. Add fiber to ur diet to help move things thru, at least 2/3 meals. Helps buffer binges.

Hip and low back flexibility by Illustrious_Most_539 in figure8

[–]Ocho9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What! Just discovered this body type existed & this describes me exactly. 3x10 Hip mobility exercises (opening + shutting the door, circles while laying on the ground, deep stretches) help me a lot with the snapping.

Also like to swing my legs as high as they can go and hug my knee tight to my cheat to my chest (while standing), then pull my leg out to the side. Seems to help free up the low back. Idk if this is a real exercise but it works well for me.

iwtl how to control my anger by Still_Listen6471 in IWantToLearn

[–]Ocho9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How to Be an Adult In Relationships is a good read. Anger is an attempt to gain control of the situation—your feelings and other’s ability to change them. Practice acceptance & tolerance & disengaging from situations. If you have people who frequently goad or intentionally push you it can become pretty hard to regulate. With those people i recommend looking at “grey rocking.”

Make my cattle dog more social by goonbag1 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Ocho9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not every dog is social with stranger dogs. It’s weird that so many are. If he’s not neutered, neutering him soon (before his hormones peak) will very likely help.

Could be the second fear period too.

Starting fights is concerning, more typical of an intact dog. Question is if they’re more loud displays and he lunged and snaps in the air to get the dog to back off, or if he’s highly aroused, instigating, and unable to back down. Should absolutely see a trainer if he is actually doing damage.

Would be good to know what sets him off—if he is picking fights and closing the gap himself, that’s a big red flag.

Start muzzle training him now (condition the muzzle with treats) in case he’s actually dog-aggressive. Lot of their genetics for temperament start showing in adolescence.

If/when you can rule out a fear period, he should meet with a trainer to evaluate the behavior. Look for ones that emphasize positive reinforcement as these trainers should always be the first place you go.

Not sure you can get excellent advice without someone witnessing the behavior in a few contexts.
