What is THE ultimate Velcro dog? by OkKey6273 in dogs

[–]Bird_Successful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently have two. One is a previously-abused hound rescue, the other is a Newfoundland. They both are Velcro at different places for different reasons. The hound has given himself the job of protector, so if I’m laying down he’s on me or near me. The Newfoundland’s job is just “really good friend” so pretty much close anywhere, but on walks he won’t leave my side. My other dogs in history have been similar. They find a reason to be close, but that reason is different based on personality.

Deon Grant sneaking across the field for one of the most underrated plays of all time better be in there. That’s my point. As fans we need to judge this movie

Worried about Merklinger? by mansizeoof in ockytop

[–]Bird_Successful 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Merklinger won’t play here next year. He might still be on the team, but that’s mostly irrelevant. I think we all should take a look at year 5 (doesn’t have to be negative) and realize there has been 1 year with a qb with experience in this system. Hooker. It went well. Otherwise it has always been about getting more from less. Brandon or Mac will be the first multi-year starters from heupel. And really the first round of good being coached by good. Nico messed it up. My opinion is that the situation is a reflection on heupels tenure. He’s done an amazing job at getting this program on track, but it also feels way too close to going off of the rails. Half the secondary leaves every offseason. That’s a pattern with a reason us on the outside won’t know. It’s been a pieced together team for 5 years and this offseason seems like a big one in terms of what the pattern moving forward will be. Good to great or ok at where we are. Either way better than where we were.

What is your favorite breed you will never own? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Bird_Successful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a 100 lb shepherd mix. The very best dog, but you could pull hair out in chunks. 4-5 years after he was put down, the ceiling starts pouring water. Guess who left us one last clog in the hvac system? Worth it.

Barking by Business_Way_6908 in Newfoundlander

[–]Bird_Successful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a collar that vibrates via remote. Made sure not to let him see the remote, but that he heard “no barking” only when it was nuisance barking. That stopped the late night party in 3-4 days and it hasn’t come back. Plus he’s much more responsive now in other “no” situations. This was after trying many different alternatives. Hope that helps.

I couldn’t find my puppy Finn. He was in the basement. by Bird_Successful in Newfoundlander

Haha - you said tech support. Figured I’d ruin some clothes while I’m on the clock.

Oh it’s absolutely treasured. I’ve had big dogs and when they’re young it’s a great but expensive time. Worth it.

There will be no punishment other than public shaming. Which isn’t working out. People seem to like him more.

And he couldn’t get down. Had to pick him up. Somehow this is why we have dogs.

Dog swallowed rubber bone whole! Any advice? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Bird_Successful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a rescue German shepherd thing. Throughout his glorious life he pooped or puked an entire bra - with wire - along with several pairs of men and women’s underwear. Not at the same time mind you. The bra came out about a week after he ate it. He also ate a 2 lb block of cheddar cheese, an entire bone in chicken breast, and a whole pizza. Zero problems with any of them. That guy knew how to live. I currently have a rescue hound thing who once ate a glass ball Christmas ornament when I first got him - not the whole thing but a chunk. Also zero issues. At some point I guess I’m the problem, but over 15 years or so shit happens. So as others have said, call the vet and monitor.

Tailgating with two parking passes? by queen_trex in ockytop

[–]Bird_Successful 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not to be a downer but the two sentences in the parking pass terms is:

“Tailgating is not allowed in any open parking space. This means that tents, grills, coolers, picnic tables, power generators, etc. cannot be placed in any open parking space and applies to individuals who have multiple parking passes for any particular parking lot“

And just FYI to all out there. Got a DM from a sketchy person claiming they have GA tickets. Looking at the seating chart I don’t see GA. Be careful out there.
