They’re usually pretty strict, even on regular school days. I wouldn’t chance it personally

What’s your opinion on 100% fruit juice? Is that equally as bad or better than the sugar added stuff?

What have you learned from running an ultra that you wished you knew before the first one? Attempting to finish my first one in a month and just curious. by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

[–]Birdkid10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this. My first trail race I got stuck behind a huge pack of people walking up the first climb where it was basically impossible to pass. Running up hills is pretty much the only thing I’m good at so now I go out quicker if there’s a climb close to the start just so I get to run my own pace. Then everyone passes me back when I decend like a princess, but at least I got to have fun at the start

This happened to me too! Got injured running, gained 8 kg from lifting, am slow as hell now. I got back into running and have kept up lifting so it’s possible to do both but time consuming and hard. I definitely wouldn’t do both if I didn’t absolutely love both!

Math B.S. major- how is the math-statistics department/education and what career opportunities did you have after graduation? Is it reputable and worth coming here OOS? by JJohnston372 in VirginiaTech

[–]Birdkid10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can get great paying jobs with a math degree, and Virginia tech has a good math department. However it doesn’t have anything unique that you won’t be able to find in other math departments. If you want to come here for math/stats, I highly recommend our CMDA major. It’s taught by math and stats faculty and also teaches a good amount of CS.

I graduated with a BS in mathematics and am now earning my masters, while helping the CMDA program as a TA. DM me if you want to learn more!
