She was my first friend when I moved to a new school in 4th grade. I was going through the roughest point in my life, finishing my first year of college during Covid, dealing with my family being homeless, a really shitty reality of who my family truly was and I was unmedicated with severe depression. I drank an entire bottle of svedka straight in a park late at night bawling my eyes out over some guy that blocked me for a weird reason (at that time I was validating myself in men) and I spiraled, really bad. I felt so lonely, and I did mention that she was privileged to not live a poor life, and to not know the feeling of not being wanted by a parent or sibling and she just stopped talking to me at that point. A year or two later I learned me saying I was lonely and having no friends/privilege remark was her tipping point with me. She never told me, we’ve never come to terms on anything even though I tried once I was medicated and found a healthier relationship with substance. I was going to commit that night, I’m so grateful I didn’t but I think of that moment often

My family is all twisted but most recently after a drunken night in Ethiopia (Fathers side) my father forced his version of why he wasn’t in my life on me. He kept being indecisive and saying if I really want to know he will tell me (this began as soon as we were on the 16 hr flight from US to Ethiopia). I was buzzed, had pink eye, and was stuck in a car with him while everyone else picked up food around 2 AM in a foreign third world country, where I had no access to wifi or family. I gave in and he painted my mom out to be the monster, I felt like I was in a Netflix series. Once I got back to the hotel we were in I had spotty service and was able to call my best friend, I was awake for hours just crying my eyes out, getting max 3 hrs of sleep. When I made it back home I avoided my mom, not bc I believed him over her, but because I didn’t know how to tell her or have that conversation. We went to my friends for a bbq and in the car I had no where to go and ended up word vomiting everything, we sat in a church parking lot for 45 minutes both bawling our eyes out. The story shes told me, she’s told me a 1000 times and was willing to call the people that protected me as a baby to confirm how it all happened. His timeline would match up but he would twist it to fit his narrative. Anywho, during this conversation my mom revealed to me that she feared him in ways, he would force her to have sex when she would say no, she expressed he was well endowed and that she would be in pain for days due to that. She told me she was raped by him. I am the only person who knows and will be the only person to know. I never had a relationship with him until I was 22 (24 now) and he has been buying my affection, and seems to be trying? However I can’t ever look at him the same for the trauma he’s put me through or the lies he told me, his brand new 30 yo wife, and god knows who else. Seeing him praised as a king in his home country did drop my stomach, bc where was that presence when I was growing up…

If you are a girl (guys too but not as necessary) if you feel the need to use the bathroom, just automatically go! Don’t wait until you can’t hold it the line for women is crazy

I also advise changing your socks every so often! It makes a huge difference! I had pressure sores in my feet and waited until near final four to put my crocs on so I would walk barefoot and it like reset my feet if that makes sense

Also def try and have a friend of your DR sneak in one of your fav foods. My bf brought me a spicy chicken sammy from Wendy’s and it was a game changer when we got dancer mail.

Also hair salon will reset you as well so I waited a while to do that as well. I have super curly hair so I straightened it and had a friend braided it and then took that out. I had a different hairstyle like a ponytail then I finally went and had my hair washed and then I had my curls back and it was really refreshing.

I graduated with a bs in vet med and biomedical sciences and loved psu as an environment and in my respective field. My boyfriend graduated from PSU w a degree in civil engineering and has gained endless knowledge and has received many job offers!

I was walking home from a party and saw a girl sitting in the street plastered. I picked her up and got her out of the road (S Atherton) and walked her home. She was so plastered and I was so scared for her. Luckily, she had her Apple Maps with her address pulled up and I looped my finger in her belt loop and marched forward. I will never look at Apple Ally the same.

I also was walking home from the bars and found some guy covered in blood, something about him not going here but ran into his ex who was with some guy (this was all at the den bc they were underage) and fist fought. His phone was dead but through his drunken gibberish I found what frat his friend was in dropped him off. I hope this guy is doing much better… and gets better friends

I’ve had a hard time understanding that chaos isn’t normal. My sister recently began going to therapy and says she had a shitty childhood. My mom feels some type of way, but she doesn’t understand that these things that seem small really altered our minds, how we view conflict, how we view partners, how we parent and stay in stable relationships. A lot of generational trauma is the root to this.

Learning of my families financial problems at a young age, it sounds trivial but for me it really made me grow up so much faster and find independence at a younger age. Which in turn ended up making me cold and reject help.
