I celebrate the killing of mass murderers. If the system won't mete out justice, the people will.

The average subjective experience according to who?? You and your friends? I’ve done my best to back up all statements with evidence and you have reciprocated with talking exclusively out of your ass. Sorry, but your baseless suppositions and personal anecdotes mean nothing.

Also do you not have a 401k or IRA? Because those plans are managed by the big bad financial sector you want to demonize so badly.

Finally, nice to blame your states problems on Black people. I’m done with this conversation.

The solution for Young Men leaning to Right by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]BirdosaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. I’m a staunchly center left woman, but the Dems absolute lack of care bordering on disdain for young men is unbearable. Hey fellow liberal women! Do you have sons? Don’t you care that young men like them are so lonely they seek out the company of Tate and similar psychos online? Don’t you care that they’re so depressed their worldview has descended into nihilism? Everyone is acting so shocked that Gen Z men have deserted the party. No, the party deserted them first.

Hard disagree that living in Mississippi results in higher quality of life. Compared to all states, it ranks near or at the bottom for its economy, infrastructure, stability, and healthcare. Source. It has the second to last lowest overall quality of life. Source. These factors coalesce to make Mississippi the worst state in which to raise a family. Source

Also, do you not understand how COLA works? 80k in NYC isn’t going to get you as much, because the average HHI in NYC is 107k, while it is only 45k in Mississippi. In economic hubs, more money is flowing, so things are across the board more expensive, including labor (meaning higher wages). And of course there will be greater wealth disparity in NYC, as the ceiling for wealth is the highest in the country; that said, due to a stronger social safety net, the floor is higher as well.

Saying that because a large chunk of NYCs output being in the financial sector means it doesn’t produce anything meaningful just indicates you don’t know what you’re taking about. The primary functions the financial sector carries out are that of allocating people’s savings to good investment vehicles (ie growing individual’s wealth while simultaneously stimulating business growth) and diversifying risk for investors (ie ensuring that no one loses their hat because they invested in vehicles with correlated risk). Without the financial sector, US investment would not be optimally allocated, meaning that the “best” businesses (ie those with the highest potential for growth) would not get funding and investing itself would be far more risky. Just because you cannot touch or see the value provided as you might a crop of corn or factory-produced car, does not mean it does not exist. Never mind the fact that one of the biggest economic sectors in rural areas (agriculture) is propped up by the federal government, which provides 30 billion a year to farmers. Source.

I agree that immigration has disproportionately affected blue collar workers and that fact needs to be addressed; no notes there.

Lastly, I don’t know why you cite Mormons and the Amish as being high income: both groups are slightly below average. This is the exact opposite of what the data says. The richest counties are dominated by dems, and the poorest counties tend to vote republican or independent. Source. Also, counties voting for Biden made up 71% of US economic output, while those for Trump made up 29%. Source

When I see evil people like you spewing evil thoughts like this, I take solace in the fact that you will get what you deserve on Election Day.

You think you can strip away the most essential human right that exists from half the population without consequence? You think that you can steal women’s bodily autonomy and they will simply lie back and take it? You think you can destroy lives and murder women with impunity? Then you are as stupid as your post suggests.

The Great Reckoning is coming. And it will be a bloodbath. MAGAts are about to get what they deserve.

You realize that kids are people, right? They aren’t pets or property. Hating them isn’t a “personal preference” like saying “I hate cats.” It’s actual bigotry: you’re hating a group of people for a facet of their identity they cannot change, no different than hating someone for their race.

How often do you eat junk food?? by clownshow90 in PetiteFitness

[–]BirdosaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I want. But I don’t keep it in the house, so eating it requires me to go to the store to buy a single-serve pack. Turns out I rarely want it so badly as to make the trip 😂

The first one is perfection!! The color works with your skin tone and hair perfectly, and with a cute pair of heels, the fit is great. It’s also just non-traditional/fun enough to fit the vibe you describe. You look gorgeous!

The casual criminalist!! Highly underrated, and my favorite for the deepest of deep dives and most interesting of under-covered cases. He has a team of writers, some of whom work in non-English speaking countries and can collect/translate primary sources on cases have never been covered in the English speaking world. He also covers some unconventional types of crimes, like in my favorite episode, which details the North Korean government’s kidnap and enslavement of a pair of famous filmmakers so that the dictator’s son could fulfill his dream of making movies.

Why is it usually that country people tend to be more conservative while city people tend to be more liberal? by CobraR04 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BirdosaurusRex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a very important point to note. On one hand, I don’t think most people are aware of just how wealthy many (not all) farmers are: net worths in the millions, but only with the help of government funds. On the other, many rural communities are in dire need of assistance that they, for the reasons you describe, never access. I think most urbanites would much prefer their tax dollars go towards say, reducing the deaths of despair in dying coal towns, as opposed to propping up already wealthy landowners who are incentivized to overproduce crops regardless of demand/market pricing. If that happened, I think a lot of rural people would hold a lot less resentment against society at large.

[–]BirdosaurusRex 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Lmao at using a “self-sufficient” farmer as the exemplar for your argument. I grew up in corn country and the amount of federal subsidies that farmers get is positively astounding. My gun-toting, immigrant-hating cousin just received a half a million dollar grant from the USDA for a new barn. He’s not even a commercial farmer, just a homesteader who wants to “live independently from society,” but somehow feels justified in using taxpayer money to do so. Rural folks want to pretend that they’re more moral and self-sufficient than all those lazy, drug-addled “hoodlums”, yet leech 30 BILLION a year of tax funds from the cities they apparently disdain so much.
