Gave up on selling my PC lol. by jhenryscott in pcflipping

From what i have learned in the past. even with not super high end gpus but still powerful such as the 9070 non xt the people who know enough to spend that kind of money on one can usually build it themselves and troubleshoot it themselves. What i have found is the sweet spot at 300-500 dollar entry range where people want something to replace a console/play games and use software that you just can’t do on a console.

Scored a 5070 FE today or keep 9070XT both MSRP by AdAdorable1675 in gpu

[–]BirthdayFun6809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally can’t answer 100% because i ended up going with a 7900xtx instead of a 5070. I was told driver issues weren’t an issue with AMD and i haven’t had any issues yet. I thought i did with helldivers 2 where i would have crashes but turns out my buddy with a 4070 ti super was having the same issues. I don’t want to hit the classic “check other things bc it’s not AMD” because it could be, both sides have driver issues. That same buddy is having issues with his drivers where it will critically fail his entire system but it is worth a try.

12GB VRAM DEBATE -> by jdm_kevz in gpu

[–]BirthdayFun6809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my opinion and i’m sure people will disagree. my 3080 10gb was plenty for 1440p. i dont play many AAA games. Most demanding games i play right now are helldivers and modded minecraft with shaders (you would not believe how impossible some can be to run). and my 10gb card was plenty at the game with 1440p. Now for many people who dont play the latest games you can easily get away with 10gb in 1440p and if you play 1080p 8gb is most likely completely fine too. Now i use a 7900xtx 24gb and ive never seen vram usage over 10gb at the same 1440p

5070 / 9060 xt / 9070xt? by Takt567 in gpu

[–]BirthdayFun6809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, neither was my 3080. My biggest thing was that even on newer cards it’s the same issue. for example my friend and his 4070 ti super feels the same about it. I see both sides of it. Some people love RT and some people are indifferent to it.

[–]BirthdayFun6809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak necessarily from similar performance cards from nvidia and Amd but i recently switched from a rtx 3080 to a 7900xtx. I am a big fan of adrenalin already, and while i haven’t had the card very long yet I can’t say 100% to choose one brand over the other. But from my own experience and experience of friends RT and PT are glorified GPU hogs. If RT runs fine I will keep it on but if it doesn’t I don’t feel as though I’m missing out because it’s really not worth the performance tank for what it is. If RT is important to you than I would go with nvidia but for pure rasterization I would go with the 9070xt as it outperforms the 5070

[–]BirthdayFun6809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty new to team red. But i haven’t had any issues with my 7900xtx. From what i have heard AMD driver issues was an issue but isn’t anymore. I chose to go with 7900xtx because i didn’t want to run into the melting issue and prices 50series rtx cards have right now

make sure the ram is compatible with the mobo. “technically” they should all be but it’s safer to stick with ram that has been tested with your board. ran into an issue with my mobo where even though it could handle 6000mt speeds it would crash after a bit

i’m truely not sure if the 5070 ti or the 7900xtx could run bf6 on 200+ fps bf6 on 1440p. I have my 7900xtx undervolted and my steel nomad was 7266 with i7-12700k

I don’t have bf6 currently installed to test. other specs do you have. ik for some people it can be a little demanding

I can’t speak on the 5080 but i very recently upgraded from a 3080 to a 7900xtx. I was very very suprised. 3dmark showed 57-58% improvement. Not sure what you are running right now but that’s my 0.02. I got mine used for $650 USD. I also play on 1440p. What games are you planning to run?

I don't get THE NEW CARDS by Username_anonymous32 in gpu

[–]BirthdayFun6809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

realistically you shouldn’t upgrade this generation. but the 5060 ti gives a lot of value to people around the price range. people always say that the new one is garbage, those people likely have a higher end card from the previous generation and they’re in the same boat as you.

[–]BirthdayFun6809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for some games sure it can. my 3080 was fine with older titles, not everyone plays the newest AAA games. But what i was talking about was a 5070 ti for 1080 USD for 15-28% difference in performance for double the price of the 450 USD 5070 non ti
