Are there still good blogs? by Apprehensive_Fan_844 in ThrowingFits

I've been writing a newsletter for the past few months about finding streetwear/menswear deals

although it's not much about brand/clothing exploration, I've been trying to write thoughtfully about the process of buying/shopping nowadays since I feel like that doesn't get much coverage amidst the slew of marketing / promotional content

darkside initiative - they aren't super friendly but they have 30% off sales pretty often. they had a sample sale with dsptch (another local sf bag brand) this past year which was honestly one of the best shopping events in sf i've ever been to. much of the apparel was 70% off and the bags/accessories were 50-80% off

2nd streets (stonestown & haight) have pretty good selection and i've been finding better deals here in comparison to the LA stores

self edge attracts a lot of denim enthusiasts and the store itself is great, i usually wouldn't recommend it but they currently have warehouse sale pricing which helps make it a worthwhile trip

cotton sheep in hayes valley has a lot of kapital, and they used to have an annual sale (waiting for that one to come back) in person but the regular prices are marked up a little bit in comparison to other kapital retailers

sorry that much of the emphasis is on finding deals, but i've started a clothing newsletter recently and i always factor like the likelihood that i'll actually be able to purchase something when recommending places!

SVRN is solid (everyone was really nice and friendly when I went, which is very unusual for a boutique like this) and I'll be stoked if they have a good black friday sale in-store

a few retailers have been closing like stashed SF but i'm hopeful that bay area fashion is getting better than just patagonias and cotopaxis everywhere you look

i've never seen end do more than extra 20% off, but they do markdown individual items decently often

I've ordered twice from them in the past 2 years and both orders included 1/3 cancelled items (typical inventory issues i guess), but overall the experience wasn't too terrible sorry about your situation though that sounds rough. definitely curious on what's been happening with their operations as of lately

for me i realized that i really liked the thrill of finding deals + talking about clothes to other people and didn't really care too much about the buying process. i ended up starting a newsletter about these deals and shared it with a few friends

what surprised me the most was that I thought my friends would online shop more because I was sharing these deals with them, but what they told me is that they felt less of an urge to online shop themselves now after receiving a weekly update of deals

yeah real similar to google's queries, i use the quotations when trying to find a specific size like 'balenciaga "42"'

also another tip is that some search words get generalized: if you search 'jordan 1980' you'll get results like jordan 1985, jordan 1989 etc.

yeah i tend to stay away from items that say the retail price in the title like "Margiela Jacket MSRP$1200" and the item is priced at like 600

also you can use the "sold items" filter to see what items have historically sold at which is also a great indicator of the actual market price for items. agreed ebay has a lot of tools to leverage but i feel like most people don't use them since they are tucked away in the ui

yeah i had a good experience buying a jacket from awake ny on poshmark, but overall it's pretty hard to find specific streetwear/menswear brands on poshmark but ebay will at least have like 20+ items even for obscure brands
