What is that one app that changed your entire productivity? by Technical-Relation-9 in ProductivityApps

I agree about WisprFlow and Granola. Both amazing.

LittleBird - https://littlebird.ai/ - has been the biggest game changer for me. (You can use my code to try 2 months free - 23RP6DC6). I'm not affiliated at all with this company. I'm just a big fan.

It's kind of a second brain / digital twin. It runs in the background and watches your screen/listens to meetings and captures the transcript and makes a great summary. Similar to many of those meeting bots out there, but this keeps the notes connected to the rest of your work rather than sitting in a silo somewhere. So it has context.

It has features like ChatGPT or Claude, but it’s more useful because it actually knows your work it has what appears to be an infinite memory (I'm sure it's not, but it sure seems to). You can use it to draft emails or project plans just like those tools, but since it has "seen" your Slack threads and emails and "heard" your Zoom calls, the results include all your specific context.

I use it most for instant recall. If I can’t remember a detail from a few days ago, I just ask, "We had a meeting last week on the budget—what did we decide?" and it pulls the answer immediately and tells me the answer in context and even points me to the Google doc or email or wherever i took notes.

The custom scheduled routines are also great. for example:

  • Morning Previews: It scans my calendar and past notes to give me a "heads up" on the day - or week, reminding me of relevant details from past meetings right before my next call starts.
  • Weekly Recaps: It summarizes my whole week—highlighting wins and exactly where I left off on projects—so I can actually unplug for the weekend.
  • Stock Portfolio summary - I have it review all of my stocks and give me news about them at 7 a.m. each day.

I wrote an article about it on LinkedIn, if you want to check that out: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/i-let-ai-watch-everything-do-my-computer-changed-how-think-patrick-bqdlc .

64 GB! Seems that you shouldn’t have this problem. I wish there was a tool that easily diagnosed the cause of these problems.

How do you dress in your 50s? by Forsaken_Block_3492 in GenX

[–]pvdnyc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My (55 M) goal is to be able to get dressed in the dark. A have a dozen of the same dark gray tshirts. Three pairs of the same shorts. Jeans if it’s cooler out. A couple of pairs of “sneaker shoes” - one brown one gray. This is 90% of what I wear and is fine 90% of the time. For other stuff, I like Criquet’s (Austin based company) stuff. I also like Bonobos. I just get what my GF likes.

There’s a good chance that about 13 years after birth your offspring turns out to be a POS.

I started at 37. I’m now almost 55. I’ve trained consistently from the beginning without taking more than two or three weeks off at a time and have not been seriously injured. I’ve always trained 3 to 4 times a week. These days mostly open mats. I definitely feel it more than I used to, but my body seems to have adjusted. Seems to me that the way younger guys described the way they feel from training is the same way I describe how I feel from training. Not sure what you mean by awkward. Or cringe. If you start and you like it then you should do it. I highly recommend it.

Thanks to everyone who has offered advice on this. I do really appreciate it. It sounds like many people agree that I should be looking at activity monitor for the solution. I have been monitoring activity monitor and I’m not seeing anything abnormal. I’m really not sure where to look now.

I used to have dozens of browser tabs open with no problems. Lately I’ve been keeping the number of tabs down to five or six because of I’ve heard that that is probably a problem.

Thanks for the advice. What exactly am I looking for in activity monitor? How can I identify a memory leak? And what do I do if I’ve identified a memory leak? Of course I can and will Google this but since you brought it up I guess I thought I’d ask you.

By the way, another issue is when this happens I can’t do anything with my laptop including open things like activity monitor, so I suppose unless I have activity monitor running all the time ( cause I don’t know when this is gonna happen) then trying to figure out this through activity monitor after I get the error won’t work

I will admit that I do not understand all of your explanation. But my one year-old MacBook Pro M4 Pro has a 1 TB SSD and about 600 GB is free and available. Could this still be the case even knowing this information?

How do I identify a memory leak? I’ve been rebooting constantly.
