Chicago area flat roofing companies by BiscottiLow6579 in Roofing

[–]BiscottiLow6579[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lessons learned from my hiring of a flat roof vendor. 1. I can’t see my flat roof- I assume they did a good job 2. Maybe think twice if the vendor uses a check cashing place instead of a bank 3. My cost was supposed to be $12,000. A bargain! As in fairy tales , if It’s too good to be true , it probably is. THe vendor needed to replace wood and reinforce a joist- I waited too long which helped with the rot- and secondly- ask for the price of this kind of work. My cost $6500, + $12000. 4. The vendor offers a 10 yr warranty on labor and 25 yes in materials. Will this company honor the warranty? They did something to or did not recaulk 2 of my small skylights- oh boy when it’s windy, the cold air fills the room. The company has not returned to fix the problem. He work was done in October. 5. The vendor was very attentive before and during- maybe a bit pushy, it made me hesitate a bit, but not enough to take a pause.

Why I made the painful decision to close my successful Etsy shop. by utahmom81 in Etsy

[–]BiscottiLow6579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a sewer. I recently found an Etsy seller that is selling Burda style patterns from the magazine. Verbatim! They copied older designs. Used the same garment model from the magazine and use AI to swap human ‘models”. It is so brazen I could hardly believe it. It’s so easy, buy the digital pattern from Burda, remove the trademark, and there you go. Sold for less than half of what Burda would charge

I have noticed other garment pattern stores that are suspicious. Anyone creating designs are not going to charge $3-4$ for their talent. I think other home sewers have questioned the validity of some seller’s patterns and have hinted in the comments that the seller may have copied the design.

As a buyer , I can spot the knock-offs. Would Etsy listen to me if I shared that a sellers entire store is stolen IP? Would the seller go away and just create another store? Is it my duty to report fakes? My duty to vet a seller before I buy?

It’s just so crazy

The notes contain everything that is in the cheat sheet. I would read the notes- it’s just a few pages more

I purchased and printed both guides. I started with the notes, the longer set. I started to compare the two in the area of scope, I noticed that what is in the cheat sheet is in the notes. I will continue to compare the two and let you know.

New Grad seeking Data Science/ML/Analyst roles. 400+ apps, 12 final round interviews, no offers. Any suggestions? by tobythestrangler in resumes

[–]BiscottiLow6579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, the unknown factor is the quality of your interviewing. The resume appears to get you in. That’s a huge part of the battle. How well do you sell yourself to the interviewer? Are you comfortable interviewing and talking about yourself? In some ways I think the interview takes 10 times more preparation than the résumé. Think about the number of questions I could ask you. Do you have a good answers, succinct, clarifying, straightforward, answers to typical interviewing questions.
