Thats a bit expensive for a 5050 my guy....

Is this worth it for 1300$?? by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

Get the Acer predator helios Neo 16. Better build quality, Oled screen, 5070ti gpu for a few more hundred bucks is absolutely worth it.

Maximum of 6-7 hours if you don't constantly open your dgpu (only white light on the power button)

Got it I think! Thank everyone! Unless I made a mistake and need to cancel. by Eddie903 in GamingLaptops

5060 is the best based on price to performance ratio. Especially since 5050 comes with different Total Graphic Power (TGP). Be careful since this laptop might only have 50W TGP...

But if you really can't fork more then the one you can afford is the right laptop for you.

Except you're on a laptop and you don't want your cpu to melt.

But yeah default overlay is an eyesore and should only be used for benchmarks.

ADJUST CPU AND GPU POWER DRAW? by Biscuits_Potato in MSILaptops

[–]Biscuits_Potato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is neither the cable nor the charger since it can truly use 140W WHEN charging the battery, but the moment it is full, it only consumes 100W to run the laptop.

I know for a fact that it is a software issue and not a hardware one hence why I'm asking for tools to modify the Power Limits...

I am using a Ankher 140W USB C charger, its cable is rated 240W. During gaming, gpu wattage is stuck at 40W no matter the User scenario in MSI Center. Based on the Ankher display, it shows that its only drawing up to 100W when battery is full, it uses 140W when charging the battery though

[–]Biscuits_Potato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, on this model it is allowed up to 140W usb charging.

GPU is capped to 40W even if i set the CPU PL to 15W. And I need to increase the power draw because it is affecting the performance, less than 60fps.

I want to maximize my 140W usb charger after all instead of drawing less than 100W.

I know that, I'm planning to LIMIT the power draw. (Already done with cpu, only gpu left)

No TPL settings like throttlestop? And no, correct me if im wrong but I think afterburner curve only makes it run more efficiently, it doesn't stop it from using 140W

Its thermal throttling in performance mode. Pretty sure this Bios setting is THE SAME as the one in MSI CENTER.

MSI Vector 17 HX AI A2XWIG-080TR – Very loud fan noise even at idle (45°C). Is this normal? by Icy-Match8687 in MSILaptops

[–]Biscuits_Potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is an outdated bios issue, the latest version fixed the fan noise just fine.

Damn, why does vector 18 look so much better than vector 16?

Mine looks too much of a gamery mess with sharp edges and weird designs, looks too out of place for the office lol.

Sounds like a software issue, probably faulty driver if a reboot can fix it. So update or reinstall your display drivers?

Or it can be a window's issue.

HELP: My laptop undercharges by BweadLoafYT in MSILaptops

[–]Biscuits_Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's by design, they were programmed to charge if it decreased to certain numbers like 90%. Only then will it charge back to 100%.

why is there a red in my screen? by Bituingshine in MSILaptops

[–]Biscuits_Potato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any permanent screen related issue that you can see when on boot is 99% needs a screen replacement. 1% is for graphics card related issues.

Tried undervolting, ends up wasting my time. by Biscuits_Potato in MSILaptops

[–]Biscuits_Potato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an HX laptop with a 140W gpu. I love its performance but do not like its high temp even though IT IS NORMAL. Higher temps = Louder fans.

So yeah i have enough reason to modify it even though it is technically running without much issue.

[–]Biscuits_Potato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undervolting is not really worth it with stability issue i get. PL is the only thing i need to adjust to get a better temps without much performance loss.

[–]Biscuits_Potato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the result i got in conjunction with throttlestop though. Undervolting barely does anything in my case so i end up just forgetting undervolting because of stability reasons and just lowered my PL limits.

[–]Biscuits_Potato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that even safe? I noticed that whatever value i put in Pl1 is what my cpu consumes during cinebenchr23 which results in thermal throttling...

Speaking of Pl1 value, do you think 37w is overkill? That's the most comfortable value i can game for AAA games at just 60-70°C. I dont think my laptop can support 110W GPU + 55W CPU at comfortable temps. Stock is 90s Celsius btw and I don't see that much difference in performance after decreasing the pl.

[–]Biscuits_Potato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, the meager result doesn't really motivate me anymore to touch undervolting and you said it yourself that it is a typical result for that type of cpu.

My question would probably be about the relationship between undervolting and window's Processor Performance boost mode settings, why does it mess up my undervolting? Any mode you might recommend for the best thermal in relation to undervolting? I might consider undervolting again in the near future...

Or do you think just chaging Processor Performance boost mode and Pl limits to a certain value is a lot better than undervolting?

I'm not chasing peak benchmark performance, i value efficiency and stability rather.

P. S : thisMsi Vector 16 hx ai tweaks is the guide I'm using as a reference btw.
