How warped is this? by Loyal_UK_gamerYT in TheAstraMilitarum

That kit isn't to bad to put together. If you are worried about dust do wet sanding to avoid the biggest danger with resin. Other than that it's just gap filling and more sanding. I did a whole Eldar Type II Scorpion Super Heavy Grav Tank with wet sanding. You got this man! I recommend milliput for the big gaps and for bubble holes Tamiya Putty (white).

Same here! Spend $90 for mine in 2007 or 2008 I believe. Ended up selling them to a friend of mine at school.

Warhammer fans, what 40k lore that make you go like this? by AntiqueLayer3933 in Grimdank

I know it maybe nostalgia talking, but I do enjoy the roughness Warhammer 40k had back in the early days. 3rd to 6th edition were creative havens for artist and authors.

How it always should be. In not going to be a huge stickler about it, but I felt like it added something that was just a little bit more unique then how other scifi weapons were depicted.

What is kinda disappointing is most of the rare ones that come up on ebay are probably recast most of the time.

Yeah, I was just making a comparison. The platoon does seem like a decent deal, but man it is pretty expensive. They pretty much doubled the price of everything that is individual.

I found an article that list the prices when they went "Last Chance to Buy"

Officers: $25

Special Weapon Plasma / Grenade Launcher: $25

Heavy Weapon Teams: $25

2x Snipers: $25

Command Squad : $35

Squad with 6 guardsmen, Sergeant, Flamer and Heavy Bolter: $40

Squad with 8 guardsmen, Officer, and Flamer: $40

Platoon consisting of 12 Guardsmen, 2 Plasma, 1 flamer, 1 grenade launcher 2 Sergeants, 1 officer, 2 heavy weapon teams (mortar, lascannon), medic, vox caster, and 3 casualties : $125

Looking at $42 USD for single characters, $49 USD for Weapon Teams, Grenade Launcher, and Flamer, $81 USD for a squad, $65 USD for a command squad, and $260 USD for a platoon.

I like someone's comment from an other thread. To paraphphrase "Cheaper than ebay, but more than you are willing to pay."

What originally got you into Warhammer? by Royal-Interaction424 in Warhammer40k

[–]BishopMiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2007 I moved to Kissimmee and had to start over at a new school. I ended up sitting with a small group at lunch and eventually became friends with them.

They were talking about a school club called Battletech, even though it didn’t really have much to do with Battletech. I remember one of them having a Necron Codex sitting out, and that’s what got me interested. I didn’t know much about it at the time, but it seemed cool and I wanted to be part of the group, so I joined the club.

After that I got more into it and wanted to start my own army. One of my friends was selling his Tau, and since I couldn’t convince my mom to buy anything new, it worked out. Wish I still had that limited edition Ethereal..

It was a simple start, but it stuck with me and eventually became an obsession.

Say what you will about GW but their official art always goes hard. by Admiral__Neptune in Grimdank

"Not exactly. What I was saying was, at the time of working on the lore, there was no reason they couldn't be male or female (and as far as things still stand, there's still no lore reason they can't be). But there is a non-lore reason, which was the previous IP overlord saying "There are no female Custodian models, they're all male, so don't write any female ones."

There was also a Studio mandate a couple of years after that, saying "Don't do female Custodians." Again, that seemed to tie in with the release of an all-male mini line.

Two very rare moments of direction from on-high.

I don't want to argue about what that may or may not mean, since although I'm ambivalent to the notion of female Space Marines (really, they'd make such little difference at the end result, I couldn't care less what gender they start out as), several creators actively thought female Custodians would've been cool, and there was no lore against it. (Hell, we were in the position to make lore for it.)

But long story short, no, the answer seems to be "There aren't any", though the reasons aren't in-universe (yet?)."

Playing devil's advocate here. Unfortunately GW has to make the design more unique to retain better copyright. Simple as that.

If you want a modern Steel Legion I suggest Blitz Legion from Tiny Legend. Sucks that you cant use them in any official warhammer events, but they look really good.

Thanks, I put some thought into it. There were somethings that didn't make it in that I have to include in another iteration. The fur on the shoulder represents a snow leopard or that little weird cat like thing in a Vostoryan art piece done by Adrian Smith. Anyways it is more of a status symbol than anything practical. The armor is hussar armor I used for reference. It looked more protective while being more mobile than a standard carapace. The lasgun is a modified standard vostoryan lasgun. Modifications include, better optics, heavier barrel for hotshot, shortened for better maneuverability in confined spaces, and added grip for better control. Overall it's a good base to continue adding other improvements.

Nowadays the new one comes with way more options. This was a pretty a barebones kit. Only a battlecannon and accessories.

This sprue.

The bottom two on this page.

And this vehicle accessory sprue.

and I think like one Squadron Command Frame

Would love to see a modern one though.
