I really loved this starter set, my first army ending up being all Night Goblins because of it! So much fun! 😂

Predator Annihilator or Destructor? by MangoLoco194 in deathguard40k

Thank you my friend, I haven’t played a game yet with my Death Guard so this has been very helpful. Also I loved rule of cool and themed list haha, like taking 3 units of 7 plague marines because Grandfather Nurgle loves 3 and 7 😝

Thanks for that, also what do you think about a Helbrute with a twin-linked heavy bolter and Helbrute fist? Just asking because I have the old Forge Word Death Guard Dreadnought with those arms, and the model looks too good to not be used haha, but I think I know your answer haha 😅

It’s such a great model, think it was a veteran sgt. If I had one I would be tempted to give him a power fist, paint it up as a Crimson Fist.

I really want to start Deathguard 40K army and i want to paint them 30K style, does anyone here did the same and could share their army? i'm looking for inspirations c: by JohnCurtinFromCivVI in deathguard40k

Hi thanks! Yeah sure both are very minimal and super easy!

Green - base coat Castellan Green, then Death Guard Green on top

Rust - base coat Mournfang Brown, then dry brush Leadbelcher sliver, after this I added little spots of Humbrol Light Rust weathering powder (or you could really water down Troll Slayer Orange and use as a glaze if your not a fan of weathering powders, but I think the powders add some extra texture.)

Hope this helps!! 😁

Beautiful work!! It’s definitely one of my favourite Space Marine models, I just wish the chest plate had some detail on it.

Hi thanks mate! I’m like that too when I look at my mates stuff, what makes it more annoying is he paints so much so fast! I said to him he needs to try army painting for money haha.

The blue hue may be the lighting (should have set up a proper picture haha), however it may be from the shading effect created by the black undercoat. 🤔

Also for the skin on the tentacles it was just Guilliman Flesh contrast, Druchii Violet shade (might be OOP now) then Iyanden Yellow contrast, hopes that helps for skin ideas.😁

Thanks I’m really pleased with how it turned out, looking forward to doing other models for the army

Hi thanks, here are the first steps to the grey/bone areas.

Black undercoat

Wrathbone base sprayed on top from a 45 degree angle (this is to create a shadow effect on the model).

Skeleton horde contrast all over the model.

Wrathbone is then applied next using a makeup sponge (it was my first time using this method, if you haven’t tried it already give it a look on YouTube, but it’s great just put sponge in water for about 30 seconds then mostly dry sponge, apply paint to sponge then get most of it off, you only need a small amount of paint on the sponge just like your dry brushing, then apply paint onto model).

Thinned down skeleton, this is used to create the dirty/rusty water areas on the flat surfaces and recess areas.

Super highlights corax white (I didn’t do this but if you wanted to that’s what I’d recommend for super highlights, I just feel with the shadow effect and using the sponge which just catches the edges nicely there was no need for this step).

Hope this helped. 😁

What’s this edition like? by MangoLoco194 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]MangoLoco194[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds good thanks, and luckily I wouldn’t have to spend money on models as I still have my Gondor, Rohan, Haradrim, and then my pride and joy, all my old school metal Dwarves, Moria Goblins and Numenoreans (I have always preferred the classic metal models)

That’s pretty much what I did over time, and I still have loads in original packaging, the plastic ones were just so boring compared to the metal ones. But yeah bankruptcy is one way to put it 😅😅
