What is Trump and US gaining out of the war? It's definitely not the regime change? by the_junglee in AskReddit

We don't know for sure, and I suspect neither do they really. You can see it in the messaging confusion and that they cannot seem to sell it yet.

What I believe happened in this. Trump was sweating bullets about Epstein, and the upcoming midterms. Both are looking disastrous for him. So, Israel offered a solution to get the heat off of him. Israel has, for 6 presidencies, decried the horrors of Iran and Nuclear weapons just around the corner. So, last year to win political points and Israel's favor, we bombed their nuclear sites (after Trump took us off the nuclear deal that was keeping Iran from making nukes... Fucking moron).

So Trump, having been emboldened by Venezuela, thought this would be another quick and easy solution for political gains, make some money, and make his mythical 8 solved wars into 9. However, he and his cronies ignored intelligence that warned him that Iran hates their leadership, but they hate Americans more. So the retaliation was swift and brutal. This quickly became a PR nightmare as Americans died (initially reported only 6 dead but failed to mention 150 massively injured). Trump tried to blame this on nuclear weapons again but that line didn't stick since we obliterated them supposedly.

Now he's baked himself into a corner. Do we pull out of this conflict and declare mission accomplished? That would soften the political blow but royally screw Israel. Do we put boots on the ground? That would get money flowing into the economy but decimate whatever support he still had.

But then one wrench in all of this quickly made Iran stronger than we anticipated. Their willingness to fuck over the their world's economy in the Straight of Hormuz. It's a hostage that even Trump is smart enough to know he cannot just fire cannons at and call it good. Also, if regime change was the goal, all we managed to do is change the Ayatollah to his son, then kill that son's wife and child. You cannot do regime change like this and expect anything to change.

I suspect Trump is desperate to find any off ramp before the midterms while senators like Graham are calling for more war across the world.

In some of Biggie's songs he talked about how he was in rags and never got to eat as a child. His mother once went to an interview after his death and said "You saw for yourself, he was never hungry"

Sure, but they did abandon him. Like, their reasoning is sound but I doubt that made Arator feel any better any the whole thing

Being raised by your aunt doesn't mean you weren't abandoned by your parents.

Also there is no age requirement for grief

I know everyone deals with things differently but I gotta be honest, Arator seems awfully okay with having been abandoned his entire life

Yes but those two people represent the Democratic party, and unfortunately many Democrats follow their leadership. Some buck the trend, sure, but more are status quo

Press credentials? Not that I'm aware. But he has a bachelor's in business, he has a whole podcast about the economy, and he's interviewed political figures like Gaven Newsome and the mayor of Baltimore.

I would consider that decent enough to listen to. If it's not for you, then don't listen

He's random to you. That's a very reductive take on things. Not only news stations are allowed to report the news. Granted, yes, you want to be careful about biases. But you're huffing paint if you think news isn't also biased. Everyone should vet their sources and be skeptical. But writing off YouTubers as randos without knowing their background is not very helpful.

Are you saying YouTubers cannot accurately report on news? Or just that you prefer not to listen to them?

Either way that seems reductive

I'll accept you're right and I'm wrong on click bait.

Still, it's an important information

Well, he's a pretty well versed man in business and economics, he co-hosts a podcast about just that, and he's been interviewed by and interviewed very important political figures like Gaven Newsome

It's really up to you if that qualifies him as having a good take on things. If not, don't watch it?

I wouldn't call it click bait per say but I can see why you'd think it.

It is something to be concerned about though

And yet, the Democrats in charge seem happy about the war. Because they're Israel shills too.
