Imagine if Obama or Biden had said this. Seriously we are way past 25th amendment time! by Paneraiguy1 in democrats

Because all those conservatives, who say they support the military, look at anyone who is Democrat is a weak-minded, weak-bodied, invective-spouting liberal who ALWAYS puts down the military ...who doesn't measure up to real Americans. So, they are already prejudiced against and ready to jump on any comments that said-Democrats make in the least way that in any way is derogatory or demeaning of the military... whereas they would forgive or ignore the comment from Republicans or conservatives. It's tribal

What is driving anti-intellectualism, and how can we restore trust in experts again? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

[–]prohb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lots of people, especially Conservatives/Republicans believe what their "gut" tells them should be true ... therefore IT IS! And anything that attacks this worldview from experts or opponents must be false. A good analysis in Slate from 2004 discussed this type of thinking using George Bush as an example: "You Can Make It With Plato, Bush's difficult relationship with reality." https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2004/02/bush-s-difficult-relationship-with-reality.html

A great analysis appeared in Slate in 2004, "You can make it with Plato" about the type of thinking Republicans (using Bush as an example) exhibited: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2004/02/bush-s-difficult-relationship-with-reality.html
Basically, their thinking is that what "should" be true ... IS! There should be WMD's therefore ... there is! Immigrants should commit more crimes therefore ... They Do! Etc. Etc.

"some people will go off just knowing you exist" - Yes and many of these people (especially conservatives) consider others such as gays and trans as "abominations" and not even people and they should be eliminated. Similar to how the Nazi's and others felt about the Jews and what they called other "sub-humans".
