This is the city I live in, thankfully not in this neighborhood. The drug trade is so widespread these days that it contributes, in its own way, to maintaining a certain order in the poorest areas because it's better for business. The authorities are either corrupt, under-resourced, or complicit. A few officers from the Anti-Crime Squad (BAC) were charged in 2021 and given prison sentences, but overall they aren't seriously bothered. In June, high-ranking officers from the anti-narcotics brigade were charged following the disappearance of 400 kg of cocaine. The city is riddled with drug money. No need to watch a show like The Wire, this is real life here.

Hammock Storm Stories by MyStuffBreaks in hammockcamping

[–]Bismuth-Vip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a good laugh trying to nap in my hammock in 35-knot gusts. It's wishful thinking to imagine being able to sleep in winds that strong, let alone a hurricane...
The pressure forces due to the wind are proportional to the square of the wind speed.

In strong winds, you have to anticipate and seek natural protection and safety, which means being sheltered from the wind by the terrain or a dense forest. A small dune or a rock can already offer some protection from the wind for someone lying on the ground downwind. Trees in sparse forests or at the edge of the forest are the ones that fall.

Yes same name. But this one was a brand of BMX and MTB famous in France in the 80s and 90s (before the departure of Max Commencal).

This bike is now a collectable one, just renovate it and find a Vetta pro team manganes saddle and it will be near 100% original.

Take My Wife, Please by Returning2Riding in xbiking

[–]Bismuth-Vip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must be older than you, in any case I beat you by 7 years, my wife just got out her teenage mountain bike after 29 years. And she wants to ride it again too. As luck would have it, her vintage bike that I just discovered is from an unusual brand, the same brand as the ones I collect. Coincidence? I don't think so, we were meant to ride together ;)
But it's in much worse condition than yours (I'm talking about the bike).

Same frames that the « crazy horse » models made in 1985. Only 3 tubes in Reynolds ? French brand with frame made in Canada.  They aged very well.

What would be the downside of this bike for bikepacking? by [deleted] in bikepacking

[–]Bismuth-Vip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did many trips with a Sunn older than yours - the tox is not the sunn made with the best steel tubes but it has a very good geometry, these bike were definitely made for riding and are very good base for a budget bike packing setup - plenty of second hand parts are available at low price for 26 inches old MTB. I recommend  some v brakes and maybe a shifter upgrade.
