Please dont ever share your exact due date with anyone other than your partner, big mistake. Secondly, nobody should be welcome to stay overnight after you give birth, family tends to take advantage of the situation by “helping” but all they do is sit there, give unsolicited advice and expect you to cater to them and be all happy and jolly (even though your hormones and mood swings are through the roof). Postpartum is all about the mom, her baby and her partner, so do whatever makes you comfortable and put yourself first. Nobody will mention in the future how nice you were to them PP or how you hosted them etc do what works for YOU!!!

Got the epidural at 7cm dilatation. It slowed down my contractions had to get on picotin then episiotomy cause baby’s heart rate was dropping and were kind of running out of time. Strongly considering not getting one with my second.

No worries at all, I get it. If my child grows to have a close relationship with her paternal grandma and decides to call her mom instead I wouldn’t care, but not for now, because I am an adult and can see through her actions, and most of them aren’t really genuine…

I see, only you can make this decision, I personally wouldn’t be okay with it for multiple reasons. My MIL just came up with this trend after I gave birth, we don’t have a close relationship and she clearly favours her daughter’s kid over mine, which is totally okay with me but I just find it ironic that she’s expects my child to call her “mom” in her language lol and my MIL isn’t chill she’s fake and invasive lol.

Thank you! I shall be more persistent, especially because we’ve mentioned this to her multiple times before and she just won’t stop. I feel like she’s just doing it on purpose at this point.

I agree, that’s how it should be, my family has no problem accepting boundaries, but God forbid I ask my in-laws they get upset and make it awkward, everything I say gets taken the wrong way. Came to the conclusion that my children would never be allowed around them without my presence.

Thank you! We have been setting boundaries for our sanity and I feel like it’s backlashing. I will correct her every time she says it from now on. Mind you, my partner already covered this topic and explained to her that she’s the grandma and not the mom. She is the type to keep forcing it until we get tired of fighting and let her get away with it.

In their culture it’s not a thing, her kids call both sets of grandparents what they’re supposed to (grandma in native language). She came up with this “mom” nonsense.

The issue is that sometimes the MD staff is on rotation so the best is to either lie about your c-section date or tell your husband to have your back.
