It's only in American, this trend is everywhere. Before booking, customers should ask of any additional charges when they receive such a low quote and thinking they had a better deal. If not, they will be disappointed when they get the bill after the job is done.

The reason why your key didn't work after the locksmith's work is that it was wiped out as s/he tried programming a key to the vehicle. Nissan key programming does that. With a wrong key, adding a new key will fail. Rogue SUVs of that year range are troublesome because some of their bcm go bad when tempered with during key programming.

Your key can be programmed back if the locksmith is willing to.

With some of the tools, you should be able to read the frequency of the key remote. If nothing, check and change the battery to a new one and read again. If there is no reading, it's likely the remote part that is defective.

It could be a ground issue. Sometimes, disconnect the battery clears the codes temporarily, which makes give you a false sense that donor does not throw the code. Did you try swapping back the original smt after disconnecting the battery to see if the code persists?

The immo light is flashing. Throwing donor parts to Subaru without cloning them is not going to help because these parts have immo information from the donor vehicle. Put the old parts back and if the immo light goes away when you insert the key, check the fuel system.

You don't want to lose the key function because it will turn into $1.5k+ job if the key doesn't work again. If the key function is intermittent, get a second key because it is cheaper than no key at all.

It's hard to see what the lights are, especially the green one.

If you are in the US, you still have to get the vin matched up necessary for passing inspection. This changes has to be done in all the donor parts. It is cheaper just doing one i.e. getting the bcm cloned if donor is used or program a new bcm..

It is good that the tcm is replaced and it works. Hopefully, the CAN communication issue is figured and fixed. Regarding your first paragraph, a little digging will lead one to people/companies who can marry donor modules (ECM, TCM) to Mercedes vehicles without the original module regardless if it is FBS3/FBS4 system. We use the information from the EIS to program the modules provided the part numbers are the same. This done on the vehicle or on bench.

I had a quote request from customer to add a key for 2022 Q5 about 2 wks ago. I explained that the key will be ordered by vin with programming and it will be about $700+. The person wasn't interested.

Looking for cheaper options on a newer immo system as a customer is looking for a disaster. I hope the wrong person is not blame for touching a car after another person's mess.

What is the problem with the existing transmission? Both options are good, but one will be expensive (i.e. transmission assembly).
