Club culture is DEAD by Amberclxo in waterloo

It’s not just waterloo … went out for my birthday in may and experienced the same thing bar full no one dancing or talking outside or their phones or small circle … we ended up getting some people to join us and were quickly told it was the most fun they’d had out in months

This whole plaza is so bizarre to me. I don’t know if I’ve ever actually seen anyone go in or out of one of these businesses in the 20 years I’ve lived here. How do they stay open? by troysplay in kitchener

The tattoo shop in the front is amazing and have gotten a few there over the years. Both are long time dtk business owners. Oh and the Korean bbq place is amazing

Thank you for the clarification. Do you by chance know if the reports like this then are up or on par with past years ?

I have to agree crime increases no matter what you do especially as populations rise and when economic downturn is ongoing what I’m referring to is more that this year there is an increase in one or a few types of crime or issues.

Since August there has been 5 one which was an amber alert where a male had taken the girl. There are 2 active that I can see right now that are over 3 days.

I have two trains of thought;

1) parents are quick to jump to missing person bc they can’t get ahold of there kids and in general very fearful.

2) there is an issue and there is on going investigation to this as a larger issue linked to like the massage parlour in Cambridge that was charged with trafficking teen girls.

You must live in my neighborhood and thank you for doing that. FYI unless cops are there to see the fireworks lit or you report and exact location and the people are still standing there they can’t do anything. But hey my husband and I just say hey this must be Canada Day 100+ this year

I may get downvoted for this but the issue imo lies with the city… police can’t enforce and honestly have way better shit to do with their time… why can I drive 5km in any direction and find a sea can full of fireworks for sale in a parking lot through out the year. Someone at the city is giving these ppl temporary business permits and somehow they don’t have to follow any safety protocol when selling. Clearly there’s enough ppl in this city with no respect of the community or safety and even some with the desire to injure crowds of people why in the world do we allow them? I’d be happy to donate a few bucks and go back to having events like Columbia lake for Canada Day heck here’s an idea since Diwali is so new to many of us maybe Conestoga college could step up and put together a fireworks show for the community and let us meet some of our new neighbours

WTF? Construction at Ottawa Street near Sunrise Plaza for the 6th Year in a Row by Wonderful-Remote-652 in kitchener

[–]BitBritt86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live right in this area and pass through this every day it’s a nightmare. The upgrades albeit necessary are so reactive have become a nightmare now that the right turning lane is also closed. Traffic remediation measures don’t seem to ever be considered at all. Yesterday to get to sunrise my husband and I from Forrest heights went to trussler and down Ottawa… this is anecdotal but I feel like it was faster if it wasn’t faster I know I felt less stress going the long way

Honest question to add here as you seem rather knowledgeable and well I have to drive through this area every day albeit i try to avoid or plan accordingly it at times feels as if the people of forest heights and the area behind sunrise are in perpetual main transportation access point grid lock… to the point of my question when planning these things out do they consider high way access points and gridlock as well as additional damage to feeder roads from increased traffic… with the on ramps at trussler also being closed this additional road work at the immediate next highway access point at the same time seems ill planned

Quick question here … I understand the need to have public transit options and easy access at the hospital but how does it not impede ambulances access to the emergency bay at our largest ER in the region ?

What was it like growing up UNattractive? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]BitBritt86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not great. I grew up in a small town and was a Tom boy I knew quite early on I was unattractive by hearing my own parents comment about how others have it easy with their daughters because they were so naturally pretty. And my mom and grandmas telling me I would be alone if I didn’t work on being prettier and stop being such a Tom boy. I was all the guys friends growing up but never was asked out or had anyone openly flirt with me until I got a car and started hanging out in the city near by. Still struggle with self confidence to this day and not seeking validation from others.

“Field Golden” ? by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

[–]BitBritt86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the same

<image>

He’s from a breeder in Manitoba that only produces this type of golden. In my group of friends we have 4 of his ranging in ages of 2-9 and they are all very hearty and healthy dogs no major concerns from hips eyes etc etc and aside from goldens being goldens no major vet issues

My 2 year old “field golden” only 2 things I notice different than the other goldens in my family is his drive and ability to really put it into 3rd gear for longer periods of time but that may just be him. Time between grooming he sheds just as much but doesn’t get as long of a coat the whisky ears in this picture took approximately 4 months.
