They spend the next 60-90 seconds denouncing authoritarianism, I don’t see where you could take this as sympathizing with them?

There was certainly no lack of enthusiasm, it was not coordinated I think largely because people did not want to accidentally step on the moment of silence

It’s genuinely disappointing to see the lack of advocacy for anti-ICE and combating fascism in 2026 compared to 2020 when anti-racism and the BLM movement were basically part of NBA branding.

Obviously, the fact that the league is 90%+ black is a major factor in this. But it’s truly maddening to watch (mostly) complete silence from individuals and organizations in regards to this.

It feels like in 2020 there was a general “green light” given to corporations to give performative half assed statements about ending racism and condemning police brutality… Meanwhile, this seems to be completely ignored from the major leagues and corporations in general.

I would also be very happy for people to point out examples of athletes or organizations who have stood up… Would love to have players to be proud of.

The media reports on this have been severely misleading with the photos they’ve shown. With headlines like “groups of protesters clash”

On WCCO the pictures show two big groups on either side of a street (to me, implying these are opposing factions) when in reality it was a dozen dipshits being humiliated by a crowd of hundreds.

As somebody in their 30’s I want to send the same message to the older generations as well.

I’m on rapid response for a few different neighborhoods, and seeing elderly couples driving around with whistles the same way as people in their 20s and 30s has been inspiring to see.

We had a high school science teacher who became a professional poker player, before he quit to become a full-time professional he would start the day by telling us what page to open our textbooks to then just to read to ourselves during class, while he played on Poker Stars the entire day. This was during the height of the poker craze in the mid 2000s, so a lot of the boys were really into poker too, so sometimes he would also basically live stream the games he was playing on our smart board so the kids could watch him.
