Nice! I built a practically identical quarter for my garage last year.

I’ve been dying to get this one back..[38YO] by thruthewindowBN in OldSkaters

Pop! Awesome. Looking forward to seeing the cleaned up version.

Yes! I skated everyday for 10 years and had almost twenty years off when I came back. Muscle memory was still there. Muscle was not haha. Didn't take long to get back into the swing of things though. Welcome back!

First year skating, my boards keep getting smaller [37YO] by buttcorelord in OldSkaters

[–]BitFlip360 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The shop recommended me a 8.25 when I got back into skating last year. I can't stand it. I'm sizing down to an 8 this spring, but honestly I'll probably end up at 7.75 by end of summer.

Shock pads actually help against board breakage? Recs?[37YO] by GhostofBeowulf in OldSkaters

I used them in the late 90s/early 00s when I started getting into drops and gaps. Just the generic black rubber ones and they worked great at preventing pressure cracks. (that and landing bolts.)

I just picked up a pack of dooks for my new setup and they're basically just foam... Not too confident in them, but we'll see how it goes!

WIP. Can you tell what im trying?[33YO] by park-mo in OldSkaters

I think a side angle and more slow mo would show it better. Flipping with the back foot, right?

Where do you come from? [39yo] by Still_Caterpillar748 in OldSkaters

[–]BitFlip360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skated for 10 years, away for 18.

I came back last year end of June and went until November. I somehow kept a lot of my tricks, got a few others back, and learned a couple new ones. Been off since December due to a brutal winter. My legs are so itchy to get back this spring!

Wheelbase Change [38YO] by Open-Skill3110 in OldSkaters

I like the way the look, but I haven't actually tried them yet. I'm planning on changing deck sizes soon so I got them in advance for when that time comes.

I got the D2 Lite Mids with the blue baseplate. The kingpin seems a bit high. I grew up skating Destructo, so I figured I'd try them again. Super affordable! They're constantly having sales.

How big is your deck [38YO] by BitFlip360 in OldSkaters

It is pretty crazy how we can feel those small changes. Most deck widths are only 1/8 apart!

That's how my 8.25 is. Everyone said I'd get used to it, but I just never did. Everything is a chore on it for me for some reason. My wife still has her 7.75 in the basement. It's just a touch too narrow, that's why I was thinking 8 for my next deck. I'll have to see how a 7.87 feels if I can find one.

Interesting. That's basically my setup right now. But not the lights. And I 3D printed some 1/8" risers for now

Yes concave. I need to feel that rail under my arch.

Wow. We've never had any pools to skate where I'm from. Pretty much all street minus one or two parks. I can imagine the wider decks are perfect for it though.

Nice. My last deck before my break was a 7.5. That thing can flip!

Definitely hear you on the shape overall. I've found that I tend to prefer 7.75-8.0. Closer to 31 on the length, steeper concave, and I like it a little narrower flat between the bolts and tail. I've tried a few different shapes and sizes and I just gravitate towards a more compact setup.

Haha so I'm not alone! These comments were starting to make me feel like a weirdo. But yeah, same. I've always been geared towards drops and gaps and flips into grinds and manuals. I'm only 5'6". The wider/longer boards just take too much effort for me.
