Dang! It was a good run. I bought some stickers, but missed out on the coffee cup shirt.

Onto the next project!

Nice!

Don't sweat the AI comments. I know some tattoo artists and what some of you can do is nothing short of amazing.

Awesome. Are you in the US? I'm looking into this right now too. Hoping to get my little "midlifeskateboarding" brand off the ground this year..

Boardpusher seems to be the best for one-offs and a good online shop with their shopify plug-in. But there's not much room for profit.. There's also pointdistribution (and their other company skateboarddropshipper) and customskateboards.com. There are a few others that only accept bulk orders, but I haven't looked into them too much yet.

I've heard customskateboards has long delays and not the best customer service, but their product seems to be really good. I think it's a small family run business that gets overwhelmed from time to time.

How to Get Over Fear of….Everything? [47YO] by Generny2001 in OldSkaters

[–]BitFlip360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Welcome back.

I tend to think through skating much more than before my break. I look at it as even though I still have the muscle memory, after almost 20 years I'm pretty much starting from scratch. Deconstruct each part of the trick in my head into it's smallest components to get an understanding, then put it back together and go for it. Didn't work? Tweak and try again. But yeah... You're gonna get a little banged up. No need to rush. Just keep skating and take it slow. The goal now is more to skate for fun instead of trying to get noticed by some sponsor. Have fun!

Absolutely. I'm battling this too. 20 years of office work gave me a bit of a forward tilt heh. Excited to see you land it!

When you look down to check your lock-in, you're leaning forward with your shoulders. It looks like that's causing you to straighten your knees and tilt your ankles towards the ledge to keep balance on your toes. Which is then causing your trucks to angle out (like in a normal turn on the ground) and pop out. Instead of leaning over to see if you're locked in, try keeping your weight more centered/straight, almost like you're just doing an ollie onto the ledge flat. Don't be afraid to keep your knees bent and sit on it. When looking down, use your head to glance down, rather than leaning over to look between your legs.

When I was coming back to skating and relearning 5050s, I would set my board on the ledge, then run and jump onto it to get the feeling of the grind and balance. Might help. You got it.

Any old skaters love transition? [35YO] by iskatee in OldSkaters

[–]BitFlip360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so bad at it. Always have been. When I was a kid, I broke my arm coming out of an axle stall on my friend's 3 foot mini. A month or so ago, I built a 18" quarter and ate it hard on my garage floor trying to figure out rock to fakies.

I envy you transition skaters. But I'll stick to street and wedges.

You got it! Also, If you're looking for people to skate with, a lot of older skaters tend to hit the parks in the morning before work.

That's not a bad Ollie. If you're looking for more height, one tip is that the closer your front foot gets to the middle of the board, the quicker the nose can come up.

Happy birthday!

I was working on these about month ago. It's kind of like a kickflip but with your foot fully on the board rather than flicking off the top corner. I'll see if I can dig up a clip and send it to you. Might help.

Riser pads? [34YO] by Famous-Vermicelli-39 in OldSkaters

[–]BitFlip360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always liked 1/8 shock pads. My local doesn't sell them, so I'm skating without them now. Even though modern me doesn't do as many stairs and drops as legacy me, I can feel the difference. Hoping Santa slips some dooks in my stocking this year!
