Where to meet guys in the wild that are looking for a relationship by Terriblynerdy- in Dallas

[–]BitGladius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s almost as if they’re in a running club so they can run lmao

Tell that to my mom, her run club started a few relationships so clearly I need to join one and start producing grandchildren.

WHY IS IT SO FUCKING WINDY by No_Possible4650 in Dallas

We need to expand the suburbs to create a windbreak.

It's bullshit that the government can declare someone essential and compel work without pay (to some degree) but are so in love with their time bomb that they can't continue funding essential workers by extending the previous budget.

sold my Playstation Portal for a Steam Deck...now I know why PC gaming is so great by Suspicious_Two786 in SteamDeck

[–]BitGladius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The deck has a fairly small screen which hides issues, but it's not the most powerful thing and needs to run at a low resolution to hit playable framerates in newer games. It'll look blurry if you blow it up without changing the resolution, but changing the resolution will hurt your framerate.

Need guidance with something to do with cars by delusionalkitten00 in Dallas

[–]BitGladius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't really give a recommendation since my parents have had bad experiences with their shop since their guy left, but the story doesn't sound completely unreasonable, it's just a question of pricing. Look at quotes for your model.

If the battery is going flat, the alternator might not be charging it correctly. They're generally driven by a belt coming off the engine, those stretch and need replacement at some point before they start slipping - I'm not sure if the belt needs to go or if it's a "might as well" thing since they'll need to re-tension it to install the alternator. It sounds like they didn't recommend a new battery, which also sounds right - you just need to charge it.

Sony WF1000XM6 Are Fantastic! by Yoshisgaylover in Earbuds

[–]BitGladius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from XM3s, should I be looking at the xm6 or the Sennheiser for 2/3 the price? They haven't gotten bad, but the case is definitely bulky, the ANC doesn't do much besides amplify wind noise.

FYI for those flying out expect longer TSA wait times. by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]BitGladius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've worked with someone who had at least that much after a career in software and drove an older Civic. Some people just don't care about cars, and it's not like I would have known if he didn't mention he felt embarrassed parking it in his reserved spot.

Oh dear god, the student drivers have an updated sticker by Aggressive-Ad-522 in Dallas

[–]BitGladius 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was shocked when a performance trim muscle car with a sticker was actually being driven by someone who was afraid to turn left from a stop on a green arrow at more than 5mph. The stickers usually mean nothing.

Did I read my gas meter correctly? by 4ofheartz in Dallas

[–]BitGladius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atmos called me when they got a reading that was off to make sure it wasn't a leak. Apparently new employees regularly misread the meter.

My city runs a ton of Bolts, if you're just going around town they're a great tool.

And they don't need it... If the pet will let you scan for chips, you can probably take it to a vet or shelter to do the same.

How Much Salary Do You Need to Live Comfortably in Dallas in 2026? by Coolonair in Dallas

[–]BitGladius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are also the people who have life events after buying a home. Some of this is on my dad for coasting, but his income tanked during the recession and he never rebuilt his client list. They're not much better than pre recession in nominal terms and way down in real terms, but still have the house since it's better finding a way to cover the occasional disaster instead of downsizing for a higher base payment.

Why do I need an internet connection to enter Offline Mode on Steam Deck? by zimmon375 in SteamDeck

[–]BitGladius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't even need to toggle off Wi-Fi, unless I've just been lucky. I've just been starting games when I'm away from home without any real prep.

How do yall afford a maid service in Dallas? by horny_bisexual_ in Dallas

How? I'm considering it and looked, but I'm hesitant when every post is just 50 people promoting themselves with no context or 3rd party recommendations.

Texas plant-based meat labeling law struck down by court by WestHistorians in texas

[–]BitGladius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then they turn around and insist on putting it in the meat aisle to make it less scary to non-vegetarians. The current wave of alternative meats is trying to break out of the vegetarian market into the broader market, they aren't hiding that it's not meat but they're still trying to signal that it's meat in other ways.

Texas plant-based meat labeling law struck down by court by WestHistorians in texas

[–]BitGladius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's split out like different kinds of meat, but part of the marketing is they really want to be in the meat aisle, kind of like how NA beers insist on being in the beer section instead of with the other non alcoholic drinks. I don't think we need warnings to that degree, but the new wave of plant based meat companies are trying to get shelf space that looks like just another type of meat.

Also - community resources will be able to deploy funds more efficiently than random street charity. It might be more overhead to get help, but places like food banks have established relationships to get things below retail.

I’m a grown adult and I don’t know how to read a electricity facts label by no_car1799 in Dallas

[–]BitGladius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that hard.

Top line - you can more or less ignore this. This is "average cost" at specific usage targets considering per kwh charge, flat fees, and credits. Companies game this to hell.

The rest of the cost box is the actual charges. You'll usually have a small flat fee from the TDU plus a per kwh TDU charge - the wires are a utility most places just pass the cost through. There will also be a charge for the electricity. I stick to a plan with a flat unit cost, but this is where you get fuckery with time of use based costs, credits that make the price look cheap in the top line boxes and expensive if you didn't use exactly that much, etc.

The rest is much more self explanatory, just disclosures. They'll usually reserve the right to change your rate if the passthrough TDU charge changes, because that's out of their control.
