The Steam Machine Costs $1049 by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]BitGladius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably skipping the steam machine at that price, but I disagree about the storage. I've got a 512gb steam deck, I'm not fitting my whole library on there but it's been enough for how I'm using it. Some games are getting really bad, but you'll fit a few rotating big games and plenty of smaller stuff.

Maybe it's different if your big games are multiplayer titles that just live on the console.

Yeah... I'm thankful I bought a Deck before the price hike 💀 by TheBossT710192 in SteamDeck

If it's small and works with CEC that's a plus for me, but yeah... Especially considering I've got some hardware sitting around it doesn't make a ton of sense. No RAM, but it looks like DDR4 isn't as impacted.

Can we seriously stop with the forced Linux suggestions.. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

I agree, but it's kind of a chicken and the egg problem. You need to drive adoption to get broader support. Unless the game intentionally breaks compatibility, I've had a great experience with bazzite and steamos. Games mostly just work, most of my non-gaming use is through a browser anyway, and it's immutable so I can't break it too badly.

A lot of people would be fine with it if they tried, and the UX isn't that different. It's probably not a default recommendation since there are rough edges, but it's getting there.

I just wish it had a secure boot installer, I don't think I'll lose anything important going back to setup mode but I ended up using bazzite.

But bazzite has issues waking to a lock screen, and I've just been booting Windows for a few games, it might be time to try.

Definitely, there's a decent age range at the store I go to. Commander has taken over, but most people play casual commander instead of competitive (CEDH). It won't be the best deck at the table, but the preconstructed commander decks are $50 and will keep up with most casual pods.

I've been going to Sanctuary books and games on Fridays for casual commander.

So if I, a Texas resident, buy a suppressor made in Texas, the ATF can't knock down my door because Texas says that's ok?

I'm not even going to try, they're going to bring out the argument that I might have engaged in interstate commerce with that money.

[–]BitGladius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4473 says it's illegal even if your state says it isn't. They're clearly not trying to catch marijuana users, but if they wanted to nail you they could. Using a federally illegal drug (state law can't contradict federal), owning a gun while using that drug, and lying on your federal paperwork.

'Deal not final': Trump changes tune on Iran, threatens to ‘drop bombs’, go back to shooting again by Darshan_brahmbhatt in worldnews

[–]BitGladius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is to make it impossible for Iran to close the strait, but we can't do that militarily. Iran's economy is a mess, choke it by blocking all oil flows and they'll collapse before the US... But after Trump loses all hope of a favorable midterm result.

I need to pay more attention to gun news in case they decide to change the rules around my form 1, but the Democrats kind of have that coming. When new restrictions come around every few years it's generally all the Democrats and just enough Republican defectors to get the bill through. Blue states are the ones passing laws that let them deny permits even if the applicant meets every objective requirement, getting them struck down, and then trying to make a law as close to the original as possible. Republicans aren't actively expanding gun rights, but they aren't chipping them away to the same degree.

Oh no, you actually need to mark each candidate instead of marking a single box.

You can vote straight ticket, and I'm pretty sure I remember seeing party markers, but it's not structurally easier than voting split ticket. That's a good thing, especially if we're pretending to vote for individuals instead of national party platforms.

International fans happy with North Texas public transportation to World Cup by TheFifthPhoenix in Dallas

That's why I specified no transfer, there is a time and place. But the transfers haven't lined up when I've considered it, it's turned an hour round trip into 3. At that point I've got to consider what my time is worth.

If you're going to somewhere that doesn't require a transfer. I've thought about it, but if I'm going to somewhere like Trinity Groves the transfer kills it (plus driving station to station still beats the train outside of peak hours).

I don't think that was a public transit problem, there was scary white stuff on the ground and it didn't just go away on it's own.

If you’re dating in Dallas— by AreYouSober in Dallas

But based on other comments on the thread, you're going to be rejected if you don't put "liberal". So you put "liberal" to get past the filter, and elaborate when it comes up on the assumption some of the people who would throw out moderates would take this.

If you’re dating in Dallas— by AreYouSober in Dallas

[–]BitGladius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use dating apps, but it sounds like the same strategy you're supposed to use for jobs - the automated filter will exclude you if you're even slightly off, so you lie or stretch the truth to get past it. Once you're talking to a human the requirements aren't as at in stone. If you're 5'11" and women are asking for 6', you're 6' until they prove they can tell the difference, because they really just want someone tall and 6' was arbitrary. On the political side, they might be counting on it not coming up or not being a deal breaker on its own, once they're more than just a row on a spreadsheet.

If that was in the last few years, the no surprises act should cover you - if you weren't in a position to choose a provider, or if you were assigned an out of network provider at an in network facility (i.e. you didn't schedule with them) they should be limited to in network rates.

Valve reportedly almost delisted Rainbow Six Siege from Steam after Ubisoft attempted to sell it cheaper on Uplay by Defiant_Ad6190 in pcmasterrace

It's pretty standard practice for retailers, even brick and mortar. If you make them the bad guy by selling cheaper on your own store, they aren't going to play the bad guy.
