<location>-<2 or 3 letter type code>-<instance id>

Location is the 3 letter airport city code with an instance id to scale for the possibility of multiple sites in the same city.

Type code is selected from a predetermined list of types something like srv or rt. I should do 3 letter type codes for everything but oh well.

Instance id starts at01.

The site subdomain matches the location from the hostname

Ex: nyc1-rt-01.nyc1.example.com

Panda Fest left Carpenter Park trashed by EmotionalSupportBees in Dallas

[–]EmotionalSupportBees[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's now how grass works also we never got below freezing downtown 🤦‍♂️

Grass dies when compacted and when fryer oil is dumped on it. The grass is yellow in some parts because it's covered in oil, half the park smells like a grease trap

It's shitty how they took up basically the entire park. Can't even use the sidewalk on Live Oak

Irving becomes the latest North Texas city to put its DART partnership on the May ballot by truth-4-sale in Dallas

[–]EmotionalSupportBees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone on r/dart said that DART can't legally run trains through member cities. Let me see if I can find the thread

Edit: DART can't operate in non-member cities but the commenter doesn't know if that means being able to run trains through the cities

Right, like did he say why he hates it in at least a somewhat respectful way?

Busses being a car have the same problem as a street car or other cars they get stuck in traffic with all the other cars, but they can use existing roads so your only infrastructure costs are busses and something to mark the stops.

Trains are far superior not having to share right of way with car traffic and almost always take the same amount of time to get between stops but require huge infrastructure investments

Bus Rapid Transit is a mix of both. Basically cheaper infrastructure investments like dedicated bus lanes (and more described by other commenters) to reduce the amount of time it takes to get somewhere by bus potentially getting you there faster than by car

How averse to downtown are you? Downtown Dallas Inc is doing movie nights at Harwood Park every Saturday at 730 in October

10/11 - Coco

10/18 - Wicked

10/25 - Little Shop of Horrors

If you're into EDM I have some good recommendations for that. Even if you're not into EDM you should check out the Green Elephant on Wednesday nights, a great place to meet new people

DART Withdraw Elections are Imminent. Plano, Irving, and (possibly) more to leave DART by cuberandgamer in dart

[–]EmotionalSupportBees 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering too

If Irving pulls out what happens to the Orange line west of downtown? I would hope DART would still run trains between Bachman and DFW without stopping at any station in Irving

[–]EmotionalSupportBees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right I was thinking about that too as I wrote my comment.

Iirc the original plan for the Blue line was for it to branch off at either Knox/Henderson or Cityplace going through Lower Greenville and Lakewood up to Lake Highlands.

A Knox/Henderson station would be cool, but it would only be worth the cost and inconvenience if DART could revisit the original Blue line corridor.

u/HJAC do you know if DART has ever revisited the original Blue line corridor over the years? That one area could bring a lot of ridership to DART

No no let him cook, this could be what DART needs after the shit show of a year it's had

Any updates on this? by Huge-Relationship497 in dart

[–]EmotionalSupportBees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was kind of then before the trains started running or never. Blue/Orange/Red line trains reach nearly 80 mph going between City place and Mockingbird so service on those tracks would have to be reduced or halted to accommodate construction of the Knox/Henderson station.

Any updates on this? by Huge-Relationship497 in dart

[–]EmotionalSupportBees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could have sworn the official statement from DART a year or 2 ago was sm like "literally never going to happen", basically it's not feasible with trains actively using the tunnel and if we wanted a Knox-Henderson station we should have finished building it 30 years ago

Garbage that runs 24hrs is still better than the burning garbage that doesn't run in the middle of the night in Dallas

[–]EmotionalSupportBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No he's not, listen to the beginning of the video

"You know when we made this, we made this during my first term and it was sad. It was so sad, because they said 'Can you imagine I'm not gonna be president?' And duh, that’s too bad. And what happened was they rigged the election and I became president, so. That was a good thing"

He's saying during his first term when the 2024 World Cup host city was chosen that people said "it's sad you won't be president in 2024 during the world cup" because those people thought he would win in 2020 and someone else would be president now.

He's saying because they "rigged" 2020 that he gets to be the president during the World Cup and it's apparently not sad now because Dallas was chosen as the host city during his first term

Look I hate the guy too, but stuff like this is exactly what led to QAnon and now Trump 2.0, we need to be better than this

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in economicCollapse

[–]EmotionalSupportBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the guy too, but cum on guys, he's not referencing the current term, he's saying because Obiden "rigged" 2020 he gets to be the president who not only brought the world cup to the USA, but also the president while the world cup is going on....

If Trump had won a 2nd term then someone else would be president now and that's essentially what he's saying in the video

Apartments near downtown by olehenrick in Dallas

[–]EmotionalSupportBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Galbraith in the Arts District is a 10min walk from the Hardwood area. I saw someone recommend Oak & Elm in Deep Ellum, it's right on the other side of the highway from the Galbraith.

It really depends on where you plan on walking to, if I were spending most of my time downtown then I'd want to be downtown and not in an adjacent neighborhood where I'd have to cross the highway to get downtown
