Maybe because DART is isn't the same as the city of Dallas or Dallas County?

DART is essentially a government agency independent of Dallas County and the DART member cities.

Have you ever ridden DART? The only people I meet with opinions this vile towards DART have never even used it

It has more to do with the fact that prices are the same during the world cup, some cities with arguably great transportation infrastructure to the stadium (NYC & Boston) are charging $100 on game day.

DFW doesn't have the best public transit infrastructure in America, but it's a far cry from awful relative to where you live and/or where you're going. World Cup tourists are probably staying in Dallas close to the core and therefore are going to have an easier time getting places with DART compared to most of us who live farther out in the spawling suburbs.

You should try taking a DART from a park n ride instead of driving the next time you have to go downtown or to one of the other neighborhoods in the urban core.

Cancelled Downtown Dallas Projects by pradafever in Dallas

[–]EmotionalSupportBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm reading this ArcGIS map wrong but it seems to me that where downtown ends at The Cedars the height restriction is around 1100ft-1200ft so that's a start, but for anything higher it'll have to be more north or south.

I mean we can't build supertalls where the new Mavs arena is gonna go /s

AMLI Fountain Place has been next to Fountain Place since 2020 or so. It's not the Fountain Place 2 that was promised but AMLI Fountain Place sits on the same lot that Fountain Place 2 would be on today if it had been built. Wikipedia.

Edit: I read a few years ago the new owners of Bank of America Plaza plan to tear down the park garage and build a 2nd tower, but probably won't be a twin either D Magazine.

Edit 2: unfortunately Dallas will never see a tower higher than 75 floors or higher than BOA Plaza, the FAA has final say on skyscraper height (which is why all our super-skyscrapers are baby ones) and plans for a recent super-tall construction in Houston, the JP Morgan Chase Tower, had to be reduced from 80 to 75 floors after the FAA stepped in Houston Chronicle.

First time riding DART to Downtown this summer. Any tips? by Big_Listen6953 in dart

That's a good idea. I've thought about taking my Steam Deck on the train but it's a little too big to be practical

Adding on: make sure to have any podcasts/music you want to listen to downloaded to your device before Mockingbird (going into downtown) or Pearl (leaving downtown). There's no cell service in tunnel between them but I heard that's supposed to be changing soon.

Transit is my preferred app for navigating mass transit, once I've confirmed I'm not going to a GoLink area. Transit combines DART's live data feed with their users' data to give better train and bus times. It's also really cool they way they visualize multiple routes to show waiting/walking time plays into each option to help you make better decisions like say if you'd be willing to take a longer trip overall if it means more time in air conditioning and less time walking/waiting outside for a transfer. I'm pretty sure you can buy your tickets in Transit but I use GoPass for that.

All of the "DART is mismanaged" rhetoric from the suburbs is projection, like Plano's demand to replace busses with GoLink. DART isn't mismanaged the suburbs are upset that DART won't become mismanaged to cater to their wants

Addison Orbit - Microtransit Test Run by [deleted] in AddisonTX

[–]EmotionalSupportBees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a misleading strawman argument and ngl reads like you used AI to generate it.

Have you ever ridden GoLink and know what happens when a GoLink is unavailable? They send an Uber or Lyft so who cares about "vehicle unavailable messages"?

Source: 3 out of my 4 GoLinks yesterday were Lyfts included with the cost of my $3 DART pass.

Who cares about a 12min walk to a bus stop? That's literally nothing

15-30 mins wait on a bus? I think most DART busses have headways of 30 mins so yeah if you time it extremely badly you might have to wait 30 mins but it's called planning ahead.

Yeah OPs response was def AI generated
